From the Back Cover
You were meant to flourish! Most of us have times when, if we're honest, it feels like we're going through a whole lot of pain and striving without much to show for it. Like our daily pursuits don't really matter in the long run.
At times like that, we can't help wondering if we matter at all in this world or to God.
In Chasing Vines, Beth Moore gives us fresh hope, revealing the abundant secrets of a fruitful, God-delighting life. Tracing the images of vine, branch, and fruit through Scripture, and sharing stories from her own journey, Beth shows us that nothing in our lives is wasted. Not the place we've been planted--or even the painful pruning. Nothing is for nothing.
Beth is convinced from Scripture that every person who knows Jesus is meant to thrive in fruitfulness. Life might not always be easy, but in Christ, it can always be immensely fruitful.
Join Beth on her journey of discovering the delights of bearing fruit, and fully embrace God's brilliant design for us to live a fruitful, abundant, meaningful life.
From the flap:
The yearning to matter is no respecter of persons.
Man or woman; adult or child; religious or irreligious; rich or poor; black, brown, or white--such a longing is sewn in permanent thread within the fabric of every human soul.
The great relief is finding out that the hope is not deferred. You do matter--already--without making one single change. But everything changes when you let your Maker show you how He can take all that concerns you and, sooner or later, here or there, subtly or astonishingly, make it matter too. God uses it--all of it.
That's the curious thing about chasing vines. Somewhere along the way, we discover that the Vinedresser has been chasing us all along.
Review Quotes
Inspired by the picturesque grapevines of Tuscany, evangelical speaker and bible study leader Moore (So Long, Insecurity) takes readers on a smart, engaging metaphorical exploration of the connection between Christianity and viticulture. Plentiful biblical references ground her study, such as Eden in Genesis and the importance of wine in Revelation, to create and analogy--largely based around patience, maturity, and trust--for God's work in each person's life. Moore finds faith parallels and human qualities in vines and grapes, suggesting, for instance, that grapes have a distrust of their vinedressers with regard to when and where they are planted and pruned, and why: "If you're in Christ, He is your true Vine whether you realize it or not. But a whole new way of flourishing begins when you know it. When you count on it. Whey you live like it." She laces her analysis with many personal stories and reiterates the idea of God's grace and forgiveness with gusto. Her detailed explanations of vineyards and how they work creates a fitting metaphor for her idea of how each Christian must cultivate their life knowing God has a lager [sic] plan to bear "good fruit" despite struggle. Moore's fans and Christians looking for enthusiastic inspiration will love this.--Publishers WeeklyDimensions (Overall): 9 Inches (H) x 6.2 Inch (W) x 1.2 Inch (D)

This book, there are so many things I want to share, but I would never be able to do it justice. Beth does such an incredible job tying our lives on this earth with what God is doing. Relating everything we do with divine purpose. The use of Scripture is one of my favorite things ever! As I read the last few pages it nearly brought me to tears. I want to remain ever so close to my Vine as a Faithful Branch who bears much fruit. That I will be willing to be pruned and cut back when my Vinedresser decides. I can’t wait to Feast with Him in absolute joy.

In 2017, Beth Moore came to Sacramento, CA for Living Proof Live event. God spoke to me in a personal way through Beth's teaching on John 15. I left that arena with a new love for the Vine and said I would never look at a vineyard the same. I live outside of Napa Valley so you can imagine my excitement when I heard she was working on this book. I immediately purchased the book and read through it along with my Bible, savoring every word that jumped off the page. I, like Beth, have a grape crush and I will NEVER see the vineyard the same way. Beautiful book. I'm thankful for the Vine. Beth said at LPL-Sacramento that I'll never forget..."A vineyard without a vine is just a yard."

The best book I've read it years! Beth Moore does it again! Chasing Vines is fun, a journey, challenging and encouraging. She digs (literally) in John 15 and bearing fruit. Every little detail. You won't be the same after reading it. I haven't devoured a non-fiction book this quickly in years!

“The vinedresser does a curious thing with the rotten fruit. He turns it back into the soil and there, underground, by some spectacular organic miracle of nature, it fertilizes a future harvest.”
Beth Moore’s teachings are always insightful and so in-depth, and this book is no exception! I learned so much though her study of viticulture and the application of it to metaphors in Scripture. I was amazed at how understanding more about how grapes grow enriched my understanding and appreciation of the oft-used metaphor of vineyards that is woven throughout the Bible. I found the book to be encouraging, practical, and beautifully written. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to live the abundant life Jesus desires for us!

Miss Beth, thank you for this work of art. What a page turner! You’ve captivated my love for Christ all over again, while also combining my love of scripture and horticulture all into one book. I can’t begin to imagine the hours spent studying and writing to create such a masterpiece. The breadth and depth of the intentionality of Jesus’s words brought to life in John 15 will keep me coming back to reread this book throughout my years. There is a word for every season written within these pages. Your poetic imagery, teaching ability, and gift of storytelling never ceases to amaze me. I'm your student who geeks out over the definition of Greek words, too! I have loved many of your books and studies, this book is a new all time favorite! Thank you for your obedience to the call of Christ on your life and for your immense fruitfulness. What a gift this book is to the body of Christ and a calling to live an abiding and abundantly fruitful life through the True Vine!

Beth Moore's latest book, Chasing Vines, is outstanding! Her books and Bible studies never disappoint. Her delightful writing style that we love so much comes through loud and strong in this new book which shows us from Scripture how life's delights, as well as life's trials, all matter to God. He uses all of it to help us flourish and more than that, He teaches us how to be fruitful. Nothing is wasted. As we look with Beth through the lens of Christ's transforming teaching on the vine and branches in John 15, she gives us a panoramic view of biblical teachings on the vine, vineyards, vine dressing, and fruitfulness. One of best aspects of a Beth Moore Bible study, as well as this book, is that she takes the reader on a journey all over the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and we are able to discover why fruitfulness is so important to God. We learn, along with life lessons from Beth's own story, how He can use anything that happens to us for His glory and for our flourishing. As Beth states in her closing words, "Then He'll put His arm around you. "There was never a moment I wasn't with you. I was singing over you the whole time." That's the curious thing about chasing vines. Somewhere along the way, we discover that the Vinedresser has been chasing us all along. And he makes everything matter."

Beth Moore is a gifted teacher of the Bible and spiritual mentor to many. In her new book, Chasing Vines: Finding Your Way to an Immensely Fruitful Life, Ms. Moore takes the reader deeper into her own spiritual journey by walking us through the process of growing a grapevine. The in-depth background knowledge provides a greater awareness of the rich, detail-oriented path our own spiritual journeys take as we seek to know God on a deeper level.
Throughout the book, Chasing Vines, Beth Moore points the reader to the idea that we were chosen to flourish. Our lives were meant to lead us closer to God and the delight we find when we allow Him to prune, prepare, and position ourselves to become the best we can be. When pain and striving become our battle cry, it is hard to see through the mess and believe God created us for fruitfulness. But, "Jesus is our staying power in all our going."
"You have been intentionally planted ... and when you're in Christ, He is the true Vine, whether you realize it or not." I highly recommend this book for all who desire to dive deeper into a relationship with God and live a life of abundance in Christ.

John 15 will never be the same after reading this book. A passage I have read a many times has never come more alive.
Who would have thought this book would be the glimpse of Him that I neededHis proof that He is has been there all along. His truth that His timing is so much greater than mine. That everything I had been questioning about what He called me towards would be answered.
Each chapter gives glimpse into seasons of being a believer. Some you may not have had, some you may have had many times, but it not only gripped me in the deepest part of who I am, it taught me more than I anticipated about who He is...things I knew, but shown to me in a way that I never expected to see.
This book reminded me that we may not all be called to lead a group, but we all have been called. We all can influence and most of all it can look different than anyone else around you. Maybe it is in the quiet service, the gentle words or just the constant love, prayers and hope you give another. No matter what the influence, when you point to Him, it all matters. Don’t be afraid to speak the truth in love, to share your heart or to just shine the quiet bright light for Him.
Most of all as I read this book, it wove itself into my story like a long lost friend. It resonated with the current healing and season He has me in and as I learn about the resiliency of the vine and what it takes to become healthy and produce the necessary fruit, the striking resemblance of my own life was not lost on me.
Where would I be without the One who does the pruning? Without the One who has tended to me since I was planted as a seed in the soil? Where would I be in my growth and how I produced fruit? These are the questions that have stuck with me through each chapter.
We are the product of the greatest Gardener of all. He guides us through the rocky soil and into His Light. As He prunes us and guides us through each curve and each stage, our fruit becomes more fruitful and that much sweeter. One day, we will be a finished product and as I stand before that great Gardner, it is my hope that I produced exactly what He always intended.

Beth Moore has been a long time mentor, even though I have never met her in person, I know I am going to learn a lot from her. When I heard about this book and the premise, I knew I had to read. Boy was I not disappointed! Beth takes us on a journey that reminds us how much we matter to God. His care for us is so pure, detailed and unconditional. I love the parallel between vineyards and how purposefully God has planted us. Nothing is by chance or coincidence. Everything is with careful attention to detail. Beth has a way of expressing this amazing truth through her gift of writing and love for the Bible.
This is a must read for sure!

I have experienced the strangest upset of my sense of belonging in the last decade. While there has always been a bit of restlessness, it has been the last 5 years that has catapulted my sense of not belonging to new heights. I experienced social anxiety for the first time in my life in 2016, well into adulthood. It has been a battle since to feel settled, welcomed. Reading Beth's beautifully and intentionally studied, lived, and written experience of the vine narratives of scripture was medicine for my aching soul. With her familiar mix of sincerity and playfulness, Moore invites the reader to the vineyard with poetry and practicality. It is there we find belonging and purpose.

Chasing Vines is an immensely rich book that makes you thirsty to read each page and be filled up by Beth Moore's beautiful perspective of John 15. She does a thorough study of the vineyard which grows bountiful grapes and paints a picture for us, describing in ways to bring us to Jesus, our Vinedresser. The book reminds us of who we are in Christ, of what He desires for each of us as we abide in Him, and how our exact placements are meant to help us grow for His harvest!
My One Word for 2019 was dwell which is surely synonymous with abide. Every page in this book found me praising God that He invites me to dwell/abide with Him, that at times, I may be on rocky soil, but it is this placement that prepares me for all I am to be and become. When I am in a pruning process, He is holding me. Beth assures me with her scriptural truths that no matter what season I am in, that God is revealing aspects of His glory. This book found its way to my heart after a tremendously intense season of pain and as I read, it lifted my soul as I could see how the rocks and pruning have brought fruit in my life. It also greatly encouraged me for how to view the smaller pebbles that surround me now & for the boulders that will surely return, for the small branches that are being removed now & for the large limbs that will surely need to come off later.
I am grateful for Beth Moore, for Chasing Vines, for her passion and love, for the ways she has written this book to draw me to deeper intimacy with The Lord. I literally have highlighted almost every sentence in this book and know I will return to it again & again - to study with my women's group and for future diving in to constantly nourish my soul.

Loved. I'm one of the few that haven't fallen in love with doing Beth Moore's bible studies. I have, however, really loved the times I've been privileged to hear her speak. I love her thoughts and love following her on Twitter, but haven't tried her books before reading Chasing Vines. This has been an incredible read. Admittedly, I love books that are easy reads, but also catch me off guard and teach me something - which is an odd and rare combination. This book absolutely checks all the boxes. Beth takes a deep dive into grape vines - her experience with them, research into them, and their relationship to both their biblical references and our walk with Christ. Each section taught me about both physical grape vines and their growing and my walk with Christ. Honestly, it kept me both not wanting to put it down and noting places I wanted to come back and re-read and re-dive into. I'm always thankful for a book worth both reading and picking up again. Highly recommended.

Chasing Vines is not just a reading; it's an experience. Beth Moore packs the pages with, not only scripture, but also a vivid description of where she is taking us during this moment. The Lord has hope for every single one of us. He exclaims this through His scripture, and she illuminates them with every chapter and verse. We take a walk through the vineyards of Italy and find our heritage there, whether we are Italian or not. Beth describes the viticulture and terroir with such passion that you want to begin your legacy.
From this hope, she intertwines the difficulties of our life, and mine being the vicious disease that she speaks of. @bethmoorelpm breaks down Scripture in her newest book, Chasing Vines, for us to see where God has planted Hope. Let me give you just a glimpse there.
You transplanted a vine from Egypt.
PSALM 80:8, NIV .
This psalm was written centuries after the Moses saga, but the people of God were again in dire need of deliverance, as they were captives far from home. The lyrics give them voice to say to their God, essentially, “Do it again!”
And God knew. God knew that slavery wasn’t the end of His people’s story. He knew the enemy wouldn’t get the final victory. He knew He would keep His promises in dramatic fashion. He had delivered them before, and He would deliver them again. The same is true for you, whether you’re battling a vicious ruler or a vicious disease, whether you’re up against an occupying army or your own anxiety.
God transplanted the vine—He snatched it right out of the ground and carried it out of Egypt, with four centuries of roots dangling, so He could plant it back in the soil of its belonging. Its home. Its true terroir.

Beth’s newest book brought John 15 to life for me! I had never thought about how much God loves the growing process- but wow, He does! He doesn’t just want us grown- He enjoys the process of our growing. I learned so much about the beauty of a vineyard, and why God uses that example all over Scripture. I couldn’t put this book down! Beth is always my favorite- this is an amazing book to dig into Scripture and see it come to life!
