Kids/Toddler measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Don’t have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Standing with feet together and back to a wall. Measure from floor to the top of the head.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

These shrink so much! My small 4-month-old is already outgrowing the 6-12mo size because of the shrinkage. The sleeves are still massive, but the sleep sack is too short when he stretches his legs. You can tell how much they shrink by how much the zipper starts baconing. (I washed them on cold and dried on the lowest setting.) I have some in the smaller size that have been washed a few more times, and the stretch fabric is pilling and snagging constantly. These don’t last very long, which is probably fine because they won’t fit long either. Lol

This was great for our baby. They do shrink in the wash, so plan for that when shopping. It’s not super thick so even though it’s quilted I wouldn’t use it if your house is cooler. We live in AZ so it works pretty well for our weather.

My baby is 8 month old and I bought a 12-18 month , it’s a little big but roomy and nice to have room and sleep comfy and it’s safe, she doesn’t sink in it( my baby is tall 90% percentile)! The zipper is really good and doesn’t bother her beck at all like the most other brand are touching the neck area and irritate her skin a lot! But this one professionally made! It’s really warm and cozy like a blanket!

Wows, I sized up for longevity and I know sleep sacks are usually a little more roomie, but this is comically large. This is my average sized 4 year old laying on top of it. Everything else about it seems nice, unfortunately we will likely be returning it because I don’t think they have the smaller size available now.
