So much Fun!

I totally enjoyed reading this book. Maisie is a complete joy to get to know! I first met her while reading the first book in this series Courting Misfortune. I easily loved her right away, and squealed a little when I saw she was getting her own story. I love her spunk and bluntly honest personality. She somehow finds a way to get into mischief in far too many circumstances. Knowing her, she was going to need a very special man to keep her out of trouble. Booth is that man. Avoiding being attached to a woman has become second nature to him, little does he know being taken might have its advantages. I loved every moment of this adventure with Maisie and Boone. Jennings took me by surprise and I couldn’t stop reading if I wanted to, which I obviously didn’t. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. There was fun mystery and mischief thrown in with just the right amounts. I loved the family dynamics, and hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of the Joplin Chronicles. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I loved the first installment from Regina Jennings’ The Joplin Chronicles series, Courting Misfortune, and was excited to have the opportunity to read the next in the series, Proposing Mischief. I was far from being disappointed. It is my new favorite I have read for this year. It was so fun to read that had me laughing from start to finish. The wrestling scene was hilarious. I never knew what Maisie was going to do next , especially when she was with Boone. I. Loved. Every. Page. I am giving Proposing Mischief a very well deserved five plus stars. I would give it one hundred stars if I could. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance. I can not wait for the release for the third book from The Joplin Chronicles series. This one should definitely not be missed. I received a paperback copy of Proposing Mischief from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

I absolutely loved the spark of fun entertainment between the pages and think it would make a great movie. The history of Joplin has me wanting to visit. It must be a remarkable site to see that crystal cave. Maybe someday it will open again. The characters are delightful and interesting. Maisie is spunky and full of adventure instead of worrying about being a socialite and Boone is so singleminded he can only concentrate on one thing at a time until Maisie sparks things up. She lights up his life and everyone around her like fireworks on the Fourth of July. I love a book that leaves me smiling and with a good feeling and this is the perfect book for that. It contains, adventure, romance, faith, family, and friendship. Each book Ms Jennings writes becomes my new favorite. I highly recommend this for the top of your must read list. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

Maisie is one unforgettable character and the author creates such a fun and boisterous atmosphere to fit her heroine. Maisie is a study in contradictions - full of sass and boldness yet completely naive in the ways of society, uncouth and rough around the edges yet sweet and tender. She’s definitely unexpected for the mine owner Boone who is clueless, obtuse, and awkward in relationships and dealing with emotions. They start out with hang-ups about romance so it’s extra fun to watch them stumble and bumble their way around each other in a marriage of convenience. If you enjoy historical romcom, this book definitely fits the bill. It’s the second book from the series but can be read as a stand alone. If you’ve already met Calista in the first book, then you’d be happy with the updates on how she is doing with her Matthew. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

This is the second installment in the “Joplin Chronicles” Series and I loved it as much as the first one! Maybe even more! The town of Joplin is full of fun characters and lots of adventure. In this story, Maisie Kentworth has been grounded to stay within the confines to the ranch after an unfortunate romance with Silas, a man who charmed her way into her heart, the same way he had done with many other women. The problem is: one, Maisie is too restless to stay within the confines of the ranch, and, two, Silas hasn’t gotten the message that their relationship is over and continues harassing her. Thankfully, she has her brother Amos and cousin Hank to defend her, but she feels bad because they end up in trouble because of her. Trying to divert herself, Maisie explores the abandoned mine next to their ranch. What she never expects is to uncover crystal cave by accident! Boone Bragg is in charge of the family’s mining business, while his parents are on vacations. Important choices lay on his shoulders. But one of his best advisors wants him also as his son-in-law. How can he evade getting married to someone he can’t abide, while not ruining his relationship with his mentor? Then, as he’s closing a spent mine, he discovers a spunky woman with a pickax inside, and not only that, but that she has uncovered an amazing crystal cavern! Then, as he knows more about this genuine woman, an idea takes form, a proposal that might just be the answer to both of their problems, business and romantic. But, can a marriage of convenience between two very driven people really work? This was a fun and sweet story that I completely enjoyed! I loved revisiting the town of Joplin and its people, who were already endearing to me. I especially loved Maisie: she was charming, creative, straightforward, spunky, adventurous and kind! Boone was also a charming hero, although I wanted to shake him a couple of times! Men! But he had a heart of gold too, and gradually won my heart completely! The plot was engaging, with action, some mystery, great dialogues, an inspiring message and sweet moments too! A delightful read all in all! I totally recommend it! You’ll fall in love with the characters, not only the main ones, and you will also hate the villain. You will laugh out loud and sigh. You’ll be wanting for more when the story ends. I loved the ending! I definitely recommend this book to historical romance lovers who like heartwarming and inspiring stories. Very worthy read! I received a complimentary copy of this bool from the Publisher but wasn’t required to post a review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

In Proposing Mischief, spunky and spirited Maisie Kentworth gets paired up with bookish and introverted Boone in a marriage of convenience story that makes you laugh out loud until the very end. Maisie is up to her normal antics with her outspoken and unconventional family, and boy do they get into some mischief! This story does make us love Maisie more as a heroine, since the first book in the Joplin Chronicles series did not show us her most rational and endearing side. The story is actually a bit goofy, but in an adorable and entertaining way that makes for fun, light-hearted reading. I love how Regina Jennings used true history from her hometown of Joplin to make a plotline that is unusual but believable! Who would have thought there was a real crystal cavern that was converted into a tourist attraction at the turn of the century? Only real-life could inspire such a unique plotline, but Regina Jennings took that interesting history and threw in some complex yet lovable characters to create her own wonderful narrative. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read with an entertaining cast of characters, and I cannot wait to see what happens next to the Kenworth family of Joplin! I received a copy of this book from the author for review purposes, but my thoughts are my own. I really did love it!

I have been looking forward to reading Maisie’s story since first meeting her in Book #1! She’s exactly the type of heroine I like best: down-to-earth, adventurous, a little uncouth, & always ending up in trouble. I love Maisie’s connection with Boone right from the start - I’ll avoid spoilers!- though they seem to be polar opposites. Maisie’s interaction with the high society folk…well, let’s just say that I about choked on my coffee when I read that! I feel like I know the Kentworths already…shoot, I think I’m related to them…and I can’t wait to see what the next book in the series brings! P.S. I think it must be about Olive, but I’d be happy with more from Amos or Hank too!
So much fun!

Maisie!!! I loved her SO much! After reading the first book in this series, Courting Misfortune, I knew immediately that I wanted a story with more Maisie in it. And Author Regina Jennings did not disappoint! I knew, even after the first in the series, that The Joplin Chronicles was going to be one that I absolutely HAD to keep up on. The first was not what I had been expecting at all…It was so much more! And now, having read Proposing Mischief, I didn’t think it was at all possible, but I have fallen even MORE in love with this series! This book had everything AND MORE that I wanted in it! I stayed up WAY past my bedtime having WAY too much fun and laughing WAY too loudly, WAY too often, and at absolutely WAY too late of an hour, lol! Ahhh…I knew I was going to love this book. Now the only questions are: How will I be able to handle the wait for the next in the series?! (I’m hoping for a story for Olive next!) And also, how long will it take for us readers to get a petition started for the reopening of the REAL crystal cavern so that I can get a tour?!?
