We bought it more than a year ago for our 4 year old. He still loves it. He's heavily using it all the time, almost every single day and it's still working great. The battery is good too, better than I expected. It was a perfect gift for our son's birthday.

This car is SO cute. It definitely doesn't go fast, nor can it go off road, like some other kids' cars, but that's OK with me because I wasn't looking for it to do those things! The car holds a charge really well and my daughter loves it. I took away one star just because the charging mechanism is SO annoying to get to. You have to use a tool (we use a flat head screwdriver) to disconnect the battery - I actually can't even do it, I always have to ask my husband! Very annoying. Make it easier to charge and you get 5 stars!! :)

Beautiful Ride-On Mini Cooper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as part of the Stellar Testing Panel program in exchange for my honest review, and for the most part, we love the ride-on Mini Cooper. The design is absolutely beautiful and looks just like a real Mini. Come to think of it, it’s probably not that far off in looks and stature.  (My husband has a Mini that looks almost just like this, so I’m allowed to pick on the car a little. Lol!) The best part is that the kids really enjoyed driving it. It was very easy for them to use, and they were excited to have a car like Daddy’s. It is definitely better to use outdoors rather than indoors on slick floors for better traction. It is lightweight, which makes it easy to move. My only “complaint” function-wise would be the location of the charging port on the car. It is under the seat, so you have to remove the seat in order to charge the car. It would be more convenient to have easier access located on the outside of the car. The good thing about it though is that it seems to hold a charge pretty well, and the car itself is worth this small inconvenience. I must also mention assembly. It was relatively easy, even with limited instructions. Everything came packaged nicely together, with even extras for the smaller parts that are easy to lose. The pins for the wheels were a bit of a challenge but definitely manageable. The hardest part was the steering wheel. You will need another person or two to help with this part. Ultimately, it’s not too difficult to assemble, and once it’s done the kids will love it!

Fun ride on car

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Rollplay MINI Cooper S 6-Volt Battery Ride-On Vehicle is an adorable copy of the real thing. The design is really cute. Great color. Cool features. And I like that it is not huge and bulky so that we can bring it in and out of the house easily. The MINI Cooper that I received was not packaged for shipping very well. It arrived via FedEx and was quite banged up. There was not too much wrapping on the inside so the car has some scratches. Assembly was a bit more difficult than I anticipated. The pins that you have to install to hold the wheels in were quite challenging. I had a few fly across my kitchen. And I had a very hard time installing the steering wheel. After many tries and much frustration, My husband and I finally figured out that a pet had fallen out of place, I imagine maybe from shipping. Once we got it all together, it was fun to get it going. My daughter is 4 and tall for her age so the car is just a bit small for her but we still make it work. She has fun with the horn. She’s a little afraid of the jolting when you first press the gas pedal. The car jerks a little but she’s getting used to it. Overall it’s a cute and fun ride on vehicle for her. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending us this car to try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter has been begging for an electric ride-on car for years, so I was overjoyed when we got a chance to try this one out as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The assembly was, in a word, rough. The wheels took a ton of elbow grease to get on, and the instructions weren't particularly intuitive. There was one page that described using the large washer vs the small washer... but in reality, both washers were the same size (but had different inner holes). There was also a major issue with our steering column; it took hours to figure out how to get it on. We think there may have been an issue with the way our particular one was installed at the factory. We were ultimately able to get the steering wheel attached, but it took three adults, pliers, and a fair amount of brute force. All of that said, though, it absolutely adorable, and the joy you can see on my daughter's face when she drives it makes the (quite frustrating) assembly worthwhile. She's particularly obsessed with the horn, and she loves that she can drive forward or reverse. We've been pleasantly surprised with the battery life though wish we didn't need to use a screwdriver to get the battery in and out to charge. (We store the car in a place that doesn't have read access to an outlet.) I cannot overstate how much my kid loves this; she's giddy with excitement every time she drives it. It's at such a great price point that we'll be getting my niece one for her next birthday because it was such a hit.

Little Red MINI Cooper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The MINI Cooper’s design is fun. I was nervous about assembling the car properly, but I was pleasantly surprised. The assembly was simple and took about an hour. To charge the car, the seat comes up with a couple of plastic screws that turn 90 degrees. The car has an on and off switch that turns, forward and reverse shifter, a horn, and engine sounds. It’s a cute little car. My son is so happy to drive around in it. My son’s favorite feature is the horn. It makes him laugh. The horn sounds a bit intense, but he has a great time honking. There’s also a fun motor sound. He also loves pretending to drive places. It is fun to hear where he is going with a “love you, bye.” My son is 4 and loves the MINI Cooper. He thought driving is the best thing. I first assumed that he would pick up on driving automatically. It took longer than I expected for him to catch on to steering and using a pedal at the same time. Learning the basics takes time and practice. The reverse is simple to engage. If I had to change something, I would add a seatbelt or buckle around the waist. It made me nervous to watch my child drive without a buckle. The manufacturer suggests that the car be used by children three and up. I would wholeheartedly agree. My two-and-a-half-year-old is not ready. I would not trust him to ride in the car until 3 or so. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this ride-on vehicle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a family who drives mini-coopers, we loved that the Stellar Product Testing Panel chose us to test drive the Rollplay MINI Cooper S 6-Volt Battery Ride-On Vehicle. I have 2 daughters, ages 7 and 5, and they have a blast riding in this super fast toy MINI Cooper. The details on this car are spot on. Between the working headlights, swiveling side view mirrors, and gear shift knob, the kids feel like they're driving an actual car. Add on the fact that the car drives at a top speed of 2.5 MPH and you have real racers on your hands. The only thing to be careful about is the kids maintaining control with such a fast toy car. The car tends to "jump" when they first step on the gas petal or if they change from forward drive to reverse too quickly. All in all, it's a really fun car that my girls love playing in!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. All opinions are my own. My daughters absolutely love this car! The style is great. The seat is wider than other ride-on vehicles we've had which is a great feature. It moves at a nice speed without being too fast or too slow. My middle child who is always overly cautious took to it easily. It seemed easy for a 5 year old to startup, drive and turn. She had a great time riding and the battery lasted all afternoon!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First the good: price, you can’t beat it! Also the car looks great! It’s also a ton of fun to drive and for a kid who doesn’t weigh too much (my 3 year old weighs about 32 lbs) it goes really fast, the steering is also really fairly good! My toddler loves the shifter and has picked up driving backwards surprisingly well! The not so great: this thing comes in the box that shows what it is, and you have to assemble it, so definitely recommend planning out delivery day if your toddlers are anything like mine. Putting this car together was very straightforward, definitely needed a pliers and a bit of patience to install the wheels. Everything was great until I got to the steering wheel. I think Mine may have had a factory defect because after trying and failing for quite some time I ended up having to file some plastic inside the steering wheel in order for it to go onto the car. All in all this is a great little car. It looks just like my real life Mini Cooper and really goes!! Most importantly it holds a charge, feels rather sturdy and my toddler adores it! Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending us this lovely car to try out! My boys absolutely adore it.

Kids love it; difficult to assemble

NYC Mom - 4 years ago

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, my kids love this car. They sometimes need some prodding to get outside, but they are excited to get out and play with the car. This is true about a month into having it still. It’s easy to operate and the kids (ages 4-8) got the hang of it really quickly. It’s light enough that they can get it in and out of the house by themselves. It holds a charge for a while, longer than I expected. I didn’t time it, but for two play sessions or a couple hours. The car was very hard to assemble, although I think ours came with a piece in wrong. What looked like an easy step in the manual proved impossible. We ended up taking apart the steering mechanism and reassembling, and now it works great. One other issue is that the seat, which covers the battery, keeps coming off. There are two screws to hold it on, but they don’t stay. Not a big deal for us. Overall I would recommend if you have the space, because it keeps the kids very entertained! I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter's, 6 and 3, had fun writing the Mini Cooper. They were both able to use it easily and the assembly was not too challenging. The battery situation is a little bit finicky for a busy parent because you have to charge it immediately after you use it and you can't charge it for more than 20 hours. Some people probably won't mind that, but it's an added stressor for us. It's a smaller car than other Riders I have seen which is great for Easy Storage but is a down side when more than one child wants to ride together. We got this product is part of the stellar product testing panel.

Great in theory, but a challenge to drive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My four (almost five) year old was very excited to receive this product to test. He loves vehicles, and was so excited to get his own “race car” in his favorite color! Upon initial receipt, the box was damaged, but it didn’t seem to damage the vehicle. That said, there were several areas that were not in pristine condition (scratches on the rear spoiler, some of the “chrome” chipped off around the headlights, the racing stripe stickers had a few bubbles in them, there was glue residue on the windshield), but these are very minor issues and do not affect the operation of the Mini Cooper at all. There really is a lot of attention to detail in the design of this vehicle and overall it is a good looking toy with a lot of realistic looking features. There were a few issues with the assembly: 1. The mirror popped out when removing the protective cover (but was easily reinserted); 2. The parts list doesn’t give quantities for the smaller parts, so we weren’t sure if we’d received them all and there is a small bag of extra parts that is not labeled as such and is confusing (the washers and pins required for the wheels were already on the axles); 3. The dashboard and light covers are shown as separate on the diagram but were pre-attached and the battery was already in the car; 4. The instructions for installing the rear wheels state to put them on the front axle, but hopefully someone with common sense would figure out the typo easily enough; 5. We found it difficult to get the steering wheel attached…it took a lot more wiggling and turning and force than most of the rest of the parts. None of these assembly issues was a deal-breaker and we managed to get it assembled without too much trouble, but they are things to be aware of for anyone else attempting to put this car together. My son loves putting things together and I think he had as much fun with the assembly as with actually driving the car. He was very excited when it came time to drive the Mini Cooper. He loved that the mirrors folded in and out and the real racing sounds and horn. The fact that the lights work is also pretty cool, although we couldn't really see them outside in the sunshine. He is very knowledgeable about vehicles, and knows how they are supposed to work, so he got very frustrated when trying to drive it and kept stopping when it wasn’t driving the way he was turning the steering wheel. This is due to it only having one drive wheel and a very light-weight chassis, so when then power starts, the vehicle jerks to the right. If the pedal stays down, it gets traction and corrects, but he didn’t understand that and kept stopping and starting. The reverse feature is very nice so he could back up and try again. Despite the issues, he did have fun, and really liked pretending to drive to the store and the car wash and do other pretend play with it, but I think he would have enjoyed himself much more if it was more intuitive to drive and didn’t have the jerky start/stop movement. As for things I would change, the weight distribution in the vehicle or perhaps making it two-wheel drive so it doesn’t have so many turning issues when starting or stopping would be a huge improvement. Another issue, but much more minor, is that the “cup holder” is pretty rectangular…I think it would better be described as a “snack tray” because my son’s water bottle did not fit in it. So I think having a differently shaped cup holder would be nice as well. One of the biggest things I wish I could change about this vehicle is the battery charging routine. The battery charging rules for this vehicle (to retain the maximum battery life) are rather strict and make it a headache for the parents. From having to make him wait a whole day after assembly to drive it, to having to remember to charge it after each use (for 8-12 hours, but not more than 30!), having to remove the seat to charge it, and remembering to charge it at least once a month, even if it’s not used… it’s more effort than I really want to put into a toy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this toy. From a distance it looks great and he was so happy and excited to try it out, but from the typos, to little flaws in the details, to the headache of the battery requirements, and the difficulty he had driving it, it’s just not worth the space it takes up in the garage. I would look for a different ride on vehicle with better drivability so he could spend more time cruising and less time having to back up to just make a simple turn in the driveway. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this ride on vehicle to test and review…we did enjoy it.

Fun, real experience for a 3 Year Old!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I received this ride-on vehicle for my 3 year old son. My son is at the perfect age to start enjoying this ride-on car and to say he is excited about it is an understatement of the year. The MINI Cooper is designed very nicely, with great attention to detail. The fact that there is an easy-to-use ignition as well as a gear shift to switch between forward and backward (and all the gauges including a fake speedometer) makes it very realistic and fun for the child. My son gets a KICK out of riding this car around and he fits perfectly inside it (he's about 30 lbs for reference). We do use a helmet with it just for additional assurance (and primarily to instill good habits on anything that's moving), but at a max speed of 2.5mph, we know he's safe at all times. My son LOVES the fact that he can shift gears and especially loves that he can generate real honking/engine sounds by pushing the buttons on the steering wheel - super fun. As his mother, I love that the car footprint is actually quite small (yet spacious seating area!) so it doesn’t take up a ton of space on our back patio. The only thing I would change about this MINI Cooper was how easily it steers. While my son is improving with practice, it still requires a good amount of strength to turn the steering wheel with hard turns. Sometimes he gets frustrated if it doesn't quite go exactly where he wants...but this might just be a product of him being 3yrs 2 months. All in all, this is an AWESOME fun experience for a 3year old and we highly recommend.

My Son Loves His Bright Red Mini-Cooper S!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves his new bright red Mini Cooper S 6V Ride-On Vehicle from Rollplay. He was so excited when we received it! We immediately unboxed it and he helped me as we began putting it together. The shiny bright red body of the car is beautiful and adorable! My son is four and I would say this is the perfect age for this particular ride-on car. He is old enough to be able to drive and steer on his own as well as understand how to back up and start the car. He’s also still small enough that even though it doesn’t go very fast, which as a mom I am fine with, he feels like he’s vrooming fast like a race car. I think my little guy's favorite part is the horn and car noises it makes when you push the steering wheel. The headlights also turn on which is so cool! He has so much fun driving it and loves having the independence to drive it on his own. My son is adventurous so on his first time out in his new car, he told me he was ready to go to the drive through and buy himself a cheeseburger. My favorite part is the bright red color and how it looks exactly like a Mini Cooper S. I love watching my son laugh and I feel safe knowing he’s not going to go too fast. It is lightweight which is great because I put it in the back of our minivan to take to a paved parking lot with sidewalks not too far from our house. It seems to drive better on a flat surface and doesn’t drive as well in our backyard on the grass. I did have a challenging time with the snap pins during assembly as they were hard to get off but and difficult to put back on. Luckily there were a couple extras included because one flew off while I was trying to remove it and I didn’t find it until a few days later. I also was slightly confused with which washers were which. A little more detail on the zoomed in portion with labels of the included parts in the manual would be great. A video tutorial online would really be helpful as well. I also noticed that if the wheels aren’t pointed straight when my son pushes the pedal, the car kind of lunges to the side at first but then straightens out and drives fine. It also takes 24 hours to charge the first time and doesn’t last for more than a couple hours of driving but that is pretty typical with these ride-on vehicles. My daughter who is six also drove it but she is at the top of the height range even though weight wise she’s quite a bit under the limit. She still had a lot of fun driving it but I’d say it’s best for 3-5 years. Overall we love the new Mini Cooper S. It is the perfect color, size and speed for my son. Thanks so much to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending us this ride on vehicle! We give it two thumbs up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves this car and drives it daily. His favorite part is the gear shifter. He will put it into reverse and forward so fast that it jolts around and makes it feel like an amusement ride. I think it has helped improve his gross motor skills as he steers around obstacles and learns to stop before hitting something. We are impressed. He loves that it looks like a real car. The details are super cute, like the windshield and rear view mirrors. It has a horn and motor sound that are a perfect decibel level so as to not annoy the neighbors (or parents!) so little hands can continuously honk the horn without getting on everyone’s nerves. We had a few issues with assembling the steering wheel to the column. It took two adults over an hour to get it put together, however that is probably standard for most ride on toys. I wish the charging was easier. You have to remove the seat completely to access the battery so it’s not a plug and play toy like it should be. However we still love it and it is my son’s favorite toy to drive. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this ride on vehicle.
