About the Book

Ivy McQuaid has been saving up for a home of her own with the winnings from the cowhand competitions she sneaks into--but everything changes when a man from her past returns. Undercover Pinkerton agent Jericho Bliss is on the hunt for a war criminal, but when Ivy becomes involved in his dangerous life, his worst fears come true.

From the Back Cover

Years ago, he shattered her heart. Now she must trust him with her life.

As the only girl in her family, and with four older brothers, Ivy McQuaid can rope and ride with the roughest of ranchers. She's ready to have what she's always longed for--a home of her own. She's set her heart on a parcel of land south of Fairplay and is saving for it with her winnings from the cowhand competitions she sneaks into--but her dream is put in jeopardy when the man she once loved reappears in her life.

After two years away, Jericho Bliss is back in South Park as an undercover Pinkerton agent searching for a war criminal. He has no intention of involving a woman in the dangerous life he leads, but one look at Ivy is all it takes for him to question the path he's set out for himself.

Even though Jericho tries to resist his longtime attraction to the beautiful and vivacious Ivy, he finds himself falling hard and fast for her. In the process, his worst fear comes true--he puts her smack-dab in the middle of danger. With Ivy's life in the balance, will Jericho give her up once again, or will he find a way back to her, this time forever?

Fantastic Cowgirl Book

5 out of 5 stars

I have loved every book in the Colorado Cowboys series, but I think this book is my favorite so far! I adored Ivy and loved her spunk, determination, and “can do attitude”. Ivy grew up with older brothers who were very protective of her, so I’m sure her spunk and not wanting to back down from competition came from always battling with her brothers. The competition scenes in the book were amazing and I found myself cheering out loud for Ivy. Jericho is another Cowboy heartthrob. He finds himself in the same town as Ivy because of a mystery he’s trying to solve. The chemistry/attraction between Ivy and Jericho was like none other. I loved the play hard to get vibe from both of them and the way they bantered back and forth had me giggling at times. Although they were stubborn or maybe blind to their feelings at first I loved how they eventually realized they were better together. This book was romantic, suspenseful, funny, and just an all around feel good read. I’m a huge fan of the TV show Heartland and this book really reminded me of the show in some ways. Overall, I highly recommend reading this book if you love Cowboys, romance and some mystery.

Cute Story

This is my first book of Jody Hedlund's. I was intrigued because of the Pinkerton angle so was very excited when I won a copy. This isn't my typical genre but I'm always willing a give a new one a try. It was a cute story. It was clean and that's important to me to be able to recommend it. It has lots of action, danger, and romantic tension between Ivy and Jericho. However, I had a hard time connecting with the story. I felt a lack of depth and maturity in the characters I would have liked to have seen. I do love a happy ending though. I think for a younger age teen girl this would be a perfect read and they would enjoy it. I won't throw in the towel on the author though and will give another of her books a try sometime.

I couldn’t wait to read Ivy’s story! I first met her in an earlier book in this series, and I was so hoping she got her own book. Falling for the Cowgirl is the fourth book in the Colorado Cowboys series, and I loved reading every single one. This series follows the McQuaid family as they try to make their way in Colorado. Ivy is the youngest and has four older brothers. To say she is bossed around is putting it lightly. Growing up on a ranch and around horses has given Ivy a unique set of skills, and she spent her whole life honing them. Sneaking into the ranch hands competitions at neighboring farms seems like a great idea. She might finally be able to save enough money for a place of her own. That is until Jericho comes along again. Jericho broke her heart once, and that’s enough for any woman. But being around each other in a small town just might put Ivy to the test. Her feelings were strong and true, but was not enough for the cowboy turned Pinkerton. They are both up for the fight of their lives, and relying on each other might be their only choice. I loved watching the chemistry between Ivy and Jericho. They are both such strong unique characters and I couldn’t get enough. Hedlund threw in a bunch of twists and turns I could not see coming. I loved every moment of it. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance with a little suspense mixed in. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishing and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Wonderful, inspirational and delightful Western Romance!

Another win for Ms. Hedlund with this fun, delightful and swooning historical romance! This is the fourth installment in the Colorado Cowboys and I think it even surpasses the other three, if that’s possible (because I loved the others too!). Maybe it’s that I fell so in love with the characters. In any case, this was a fantastic story that kept me engaged from page one until the end! I had a hard time putting it down! Ivy McQuaid is the feisty younger sister of four protective brothers. But she alone can rope and ride better than all of them together. If they only knew… She’s been disguising herself as a man called Buster Bliss and has been participating for a while in riding and roping contests. She’s saving the money to buy herself a piece of land where she can start a ranch of her own and being independent for once. But there’s one man who sees perfectly behind her façade, and that is Jericho Bliss (the surname she herself used for her disguise!), her secret childhood crush who broke her heart when he up and left without explanation. Jericho has loved Ivy for a long time, but he’s his best friend’s sister, and Dylan made it clear she is off boundaries. But at least he can keep an eye on her, can he not? Ivy spells trouble wherever she goes, so he’ll need to keep a close eye, especially when unwanted (to him) suitors keep pestering her. Doesn’t she realize the allure she has? But Jericho is an undercover Pinkerton Agent, and has a secret mission that has brought him to Fairplay, searching for a dangerous war criminal. No one should know, least of all Ivy, lest he put her in dangers way. Problems arise when he decides to pretend to want to purchase a land to make people around think he’s settling, only to find out that Ivy is after the same land. Can he compete with Ivy in a “fair” play to get the land? He tries to resist spunky Ivy’s charms but too late realizes he has already fallen -and hard- for her. He tries to push her away and fight his growing attraction. His worst nightmare comes alive as he realizes he has put Ivy in dangers way. Will he be able to save her and keep his heart intact? Or is Ivy worth defying all odds for a forever love? Will he break her heart for a second time? I absolutely loved Ivy and Jericho’s journey! It had everything I like to see in a book: strong yet relatable characters, a captivating plot with unexpected twists, lots of adventure, witty banter and laugh out loud moments, and the swooniest romance! Sigh! The romance had a lot of sparks and great chemistry, yet even if it was passionate, it was always clean and limited to swooning kisses. I loved many things about the character’s: Ivy’s sassy and full of life attitude, her straightforwardness, her grit and strong determination, her big heart and her witty comments; Jericho was, other than ruggedly handsome, a swooning hero with a protective nature, a noble heart and courageousness willing to sacrifice anything to do what’s best for Ivy and keep her safe. They were both lovable, and their romance so endearing. I loved how Ivy flirts with him and tries to make him jealous by entertaining other suitors, as well as Jericho trying to scare them off. And I especially loved Jericho’s declaration of love and the roping scene. The story also had a faith thread that inspired me, and didn’t feel too preachy, about what real love means, forgiveness and second chances. All in all, a wonderful western romance that will delight you, make you laugh, sigh and bite your nails! I vividly recommend it! A must read!It can perfectly be read as a standalone, although I do recommend reading the series in order, because you get to know the McQuaid better over the years and fall more in love with them. I can’t wait for Dylan’s story and the conclusion to the series to come out now! I received a complimentary book from Bethany House but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Gotta Love Those McQuaids!

Oh, how I loved this book! Falling for the Cowgirl is a perfect addition to the Colorado Cowboys series because Ivy McQuaid finally gets her own story! The little sister of those hunky McQuaid brothers is now a grown woman with a mind of her own, and her mind is set on owning her own ranch. And, she'd like to have Jericho Bliss to help her run it. The same Jericho who left the Colorado Territory two years ago but has recently returned with a secret agenda. He's just as attracted to Ivy as she is to him, but he can't allow himself to have feelings for any woman. Not with the job that he has. But...does his heart understand his reasoning? An independent cowgirl and an undercover Pinkerton agent might not seem a likely couple, but author Jody Hedlund once again proves her ability to write a romance that is clean but oh, so swoon worthy! Ivy and Jericho share some sizzling moments together, but the real allure of their relationship lies in Jericho's determination to put Ivy first! If you're looking for a classic western with dangerous villains, strong cowboys, and an inspiring faith message, this is the book for you. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and I can't wait to read what's next for these Colorado Cowboys. Falling for the Cowgirl is wonderful historical fiction! I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

This book was amazing! Ivy is bullheaded and reckless and Jericho is a bossy brat…and I love them both for it! I was enraptured by the story and found Ivy’s thoughts and feelings so relatable at times, that I actually found myself tearing up. Isn’t it great when a story is so good that it brings out the emotions in you? Confession time. I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it. With how enthralled I’ve been over each of the previous books in the series, there was no way this one was going to disappoint, lol, but what really surprised me was just how in tune I felt with Ivy’s heart. With plenty of action, mishaps, witty banter and charming characters, this is a book you will definitely not want to miss! Author Jody Hedlund has comprised a tale that is sure to satisfy lovers of all things western, high spirited and adventurous. Highly recommended!

Falling for the Cowgirl is the fourth book from Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboys series. I have loved this series and was excited to have the opportunity to read this one. What another wonderful story by this author. I adored Jericho and Ivy’s story so much. I enjoyed the vivid details that made me feel as though I was transported back in time. It was a great and entertaining read. I am giving Falling for the Cowgirl a very well deserved five plus stars. Fans of clean historical romance will most definitely want to read it and not miss it. I am looking forward to the next book from the Colorado Cowboys series, The Last Chance Cowboy, to see what happens next. I received a copy of Falling for the Cowgirl from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Falling for the Cowgirl is the fourth captivating installment of the wonderful Colorado Cowboys series. This series has become a favorite, and I have been looking forward to Ivy’s story. I love the McQuaid family, and Ivy has had a special place in my heart from the beginning of the series. Strong-willed, fiercely independent, and a bit impetuous, Ivy gets herself into all kinds of “messes” much to the chagrin of her brothers Flynn, Wyatt, and Brody and her longtime friend Jericho. As Ivy and Jericho are reunited after a two year absence, sparks fly! They must admit their feelings for each other and overcome obstacles which hinder their future together. The fast-paced, action-packed plot along with compelling, memorable characters lasso your attention and keep you reading! Sizzling, but clean, romance with lots of tension and awkward moments is delightfully entertaining. I especially appreciate the meaningful spiritual truths infused into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it and the series especially for fans of historical Christian romance. I am waiting anxiously for the concluding book of the series which is the prodigal brother Dylan’s story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
