If you enjoy an intense story you've come to the right place with this book. Grace Billingsley is a special agent with the FBI and she's been tasked with helping to catch a serial killer. Grace is a psychiatrist and a behavior analyst and she uses those skills to come up with a profile as to who the possible killer could be. Along the way it becomes personal to her and the killer. Sam Monroe is a prison psychiatrist that helps Grace and her team with the profile of the killer. Before long he is drawn into the case so much so that it endangers his family. To complicate matters both personally and professionally it just so happens that his own father is a convicted serial killer that was recently transferred to the prison where Sam works. Could this new serial killer be related to his father in some manner? This was so well written. I stayed up way too late reading it because I just needed to know a little bit more before I could put the book down. There were complexities in the case that I didn't see coming but they made a huge impact on the overall story. You really can count on Lynette Eason for a nail biter of a story. This is book three in the series and the connection between the books is a group of friends. Each book focuses on an individual and the rest of the friends pop in from time to time. With that in mind I think it is safe to say that this book can easily be read as a stand alone title. But of course I recommend that you treat yourself to the entire series! I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

I was so excited to read Grace’s story! She has the most interesting job as a Behavioral Analyst and Psychiatrist. I couldn’t imagine trying to get into the minds of serial killers! Sleeping at night would be impossible. Luckily for Grace, it is her passion to catch criminals before they can hurt someone else, and she is good at her job. Her dating life is another thing altogether. Grace and Sam had a real connection, or at least she thought so. When he ghosted her, she tried her best not to take it too hard. But seeing him at her job brings back those hurt feelings. Sam has a complicated family life to say the least. Because of things in his past, he doesn’t feel like anyone deserves his baggage. Being the son of a serial killer isn’t easy. But it also pushed him into a career that he enjoys, and he feels like he can actually help people. When murders with his incarcerated father’s MO start happening around town, Sam knows he needs to help the murderer get caught. Grace and Sam were a lot of fun to watch. Hurt feelings aside, they are a great team. They are going to need all the help they can get catching this criminal that seems to have put Grace in his cross-hairs. Twists and turns galore kept my turning the pages way too late into the night. Critical Threat is the third book in the Extreme Measures series, and I can’t wait to see what Eason writes next! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense. If you haven’t read the previous books in this series, don’t worry! You can totally pick this one up and enjoy the journey! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
It will slay you!

Critical Threat by Lynette Eason is the third book in the Extreme Measures series. It can be read as a standalone. There are references to the characters from the first two books in the Extreme Measures series. It can be a little confusing if you have not read those books. I found Critical Threat to be a slow starter. The pacing does pick up later in the book. The characters are realistic. We get to know Grace Billingsley and Sam Monroe. I like that they are not law enforcement officers. We get a different perspective. Grace is a behavioral analyst (like the characters on Criminal Minds) and Sam is prison psychiatrist. It was interesting learning about their professions. I did not enjoy the drama in Grace and Sam’s lives. I felt it was a bit much. Grace has a brother who is an addict. Grace’s family blames her for getting him addicted. Sam has two kids and an ex-wife. I could have done without the ex-wife drama. Sam is also the son of a serial killer. The crimes were interesting. There is graphic detail (the victims’ tongues are cut out). I wish the mystery had not been so easy to solve (I wanted it to be challenging). Some details do not seem realistic. I am amazed at how often the killer was able to get close to Grace despite an alarm system and a security detail. Plus, Grace is an FBI agent. If she is as good as she claims, Grace should have picked up on him tailing her or being nearby. The ending was fast paced. There is romance interspersed with finding dead women and threats from the killer. The romance progresses slowly. I wish I had felt chemistry between Sam and Grace. It felt like they were close friends instead of two people falling in love. The Christian element is light. Sam and Grace are Christians. They talk about how they came to be Christians and there is prayer. The point of view alternates between Grace, Sam, and the killer. With the alternating POV, there are repetitive details especially with the Grace related incidents. I would have enjoyed the story more if the pacing in the beginning had been snappier and there was less repetition. Critical Threat will slay you with the son of a serial killer, an enraged inmate, a chancy killer, observant behaviorist, a teen wanting a telephone, and a terrible threat.

From the first page to the very last page of Critical Threat by Lynette Eason, the reader is drawn into the mystery and possible romance around which the story revolves. The reader finds herself/himself in the middle of a very complex plot. The main characters, Grace Billingsley, an FBI agent, and Sam Monroe, a prison psychiatrist, meet for a second time. They are faced with many obstacles as they work together to solve the mystery behind a serial killer in order to stop him or her. There are quite a few secondary characters, and Lynette Eason does a phenomenal job in developing them. This book is one that the reader will find almost impossible to put down. It is a real page turner for sure! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.

I was surprised to notice that this was the first book that I have read from this author. It won't be my last. It was full of suspense, some romance and a lot of mystery. This book is a gripping story that you won't want to miss especially for suspense-mystery lovers. A serial killer is following the MO of Sam's father, an incarcerated serial killer. He is hampered in life by his father's violent acts and past crimes. Finding a meaningful relationship is difficult at best, fearing that anyone will assume he is his father's son. Sam is a prison psychiatrist as well, and teams up with Grace, a forensic analyst, in trying to figure out the mind of the criminal. The book has lots of adventure as time runs out to prevent yet another victim. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own.

I had told myself that I was going to stop reading books about serial killers, but who can turn down books by Lynette Eason? Well, not me. This one is not as gruesome as some are. The suspense of trying to determine who the killer is, or isn’t, and trying to predict who the next victim might be kept me highly engaged as I grabbed opportunities to continue reading whenever possible. A key theme of this book, developed through the lives of the two main FBI agents, deals with taking responsibility for one’s own behavior and decisions, while not allowing others to make one feel responsible for theirs. If you are looking for a fast, suspenseful read, I would recommend this book and the two previous books in this series. I am looking forward to the fourth book. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Critical Threat from Revell via LibraryThing without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Critical Threat Extreme Measures #3 By Lynette Eason A serial killer has made the northeast region just outside of Washington, D.C., his new home. Is it a copycat of Peter Romanos? Or is it something worse? FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley has been tasked with working up a profile. What she didn't expect was prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe being called in to consult. But Sam has a unique perspective on serial killers and possibly this case. When Grace draws the killer's interest, her life is in danger. But Grace refuses to be intimidated or put her life on lockdown to keep a killer at bay and free to kill more women. But when a personal crisis arises, she has to split her time between work and family, making her an easier target for a man who is now obsessed with her. Critical Threat finds both Grace and Sam dealing with their pasts and the regrets they carry. This is the third book in the Extreme Measures series, and it in no way lets up on the intense suspense that kept the first two books as a can't-put-it-down-read. The killings are a tad gruesome but occur off-page, so there aren't graphic details to wade through. There are some unique twists that keep the reader guessing as to just who is guilty. It is interesting to get the mindset of the killer while not knowing who he is. The overall story is completed within this book, so if you haven't read the first two, you won't have any problem reading this book. If you have not yet read Lynette Eason, this would be a good book to start with, and then you can read the first two books in the series (Life Flight and Crossfire). This is a book I would recommend to most readers (but not if you only want gentle reads). I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations, but that I provide my honest opinion, all thoughts expressed are my own.

What an amazing suspenseful book this is. The author definitely knows how to write an intense story with characters that grab your attention. I loved the two main characters and thought they worked very well together. Grace is a very intelligent woman who works as a behavioral analyst. Her job can be demanding and dangerous at times. I was impressed with her skills of recalling faces, and picking up clues at crime scenes. There is a serial killer on the loose and Grace is there to help catch the person before more women are killed. Sam is a prison psychiatrist and he sure has his hands full with the information he is told. I can see why his job is important though. With his knowledge he has the ability to talk to prisoners and see if there is something they are hiding. Sam also has quite the family history that would scare most relationships away. I can’t wait for readers to find out more about this part of Sam. He has tried to remove himself from this secret but it won’t go away. With a killer on loose, Grace finds herself teamed up with Sam to solve the crime. I loved the twists in the story and wondered at times if Grace would survive since she has caught the attention of the serial killer. The puzzles start coming together and the race is on to keep one step ahead of the danger. There is a faith element in the story but it is light. The ending is worthy of an award for best edge of your seat adrenaline rush take down the bad guy before he kills again scene. I loved that there is a hint for another book in this series. I will be anxiously awaiting it. I received a copy of this book from Revell Blogger Program. The review is my own opinion.

I have read all three books in this “Extreme Measures” series and this author is one of my favorites who I have been reading for a long time. I don’t particularly like reading serial killer books but this story wasn’t graphic and had great characters and an interesting story line. FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley and psychiatrist Sam Monroe end up being called in to work another case together when more bodies keep showing up with a similar MO. Lots of drama and action in this fast paced, clean Christian fiction. I enjoyed the twists and turns and how well Sam and Grace worked together, protected and understood each other. Although the plot was about finding a serial killer, it didn’t end being graphic which I appreciated. I can’t wait to read more books in this series! I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Whew! This book definitely took me for a ride! This is the third book in Lynette Eason's "Extreme Measures" series. Of the three, #2, Crossfire is my favorite so far. The action, twists and suspense in this one were great, but some of the crime details were a bit rough. I wouldn't really recommend this to young readers. Prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe/Romanos was interesting, and his kids were amusing. I loved Grace's character as a advisory special agent, and her tenacity for crime solving was admirable. Hers and Sam's dry humor was to die for. This mystery constantly kept me guessing until the last few chapters. Age rating: 16 and up for blood, violent deaths, and crime scene details. Thank you to the publisher and author for the complimentary paperback as part of Lynette's launch team. Thank you to Netgalley for the complimentary e-book. A positive review was not required of me, and the thoughts above are my own.

Critical Threat by Lynette Eason is the third book in her Extreme Measures series. FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley is a behavioral analyst. Helping the FBI get serial killers off the street is her mission in life. Working with prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe will have challenges all its own. Can they catch the copy-cat killer before Grace becomes the next victim? This was a page-turning thriller! You never knew what was going to happen next. I loved Grace’s resiliency. After everything she went through, she held onto God’s promises. If we could all remember this when things get rough. God is in control! I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

Lynette Eason is known for her dynamic writing of bestselling romantic suspense novels. In Critical Threat (Extreme Measures, Book #3) Eason has devised a plot that is loaded with edge-of-your-seat suspense! Her characters are crisp and relatable and draw you into the story. Eason based her plot on psychiatrist and behavioral analyst FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley and her ability to recognize the signs of a serial killer. It will require all of her skill, hard work, and some luck to find the serial killer that is presently terrorizing the local older women. As she begins to build her profile, the FBI decides to loop in prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe, who adds a unique perspective because he is the son of a notorious serial killer. He knows how serial killers work while they are still incarcerated. As the story develops, so does the suspense when Grace becomes one of the hunted as well! Will Grace and Sam’s growing attraction to each other be a help or a hindrance as they race to solve the identity of the serial killer? This book deserves more than 5 Stars! I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

As expected, I was pulled into the story from page one. It ended up being a read through in one day as I couldn't wait to see the ending for Grace and Sam. Critical Threat is a riveting, suspenseful addition to the Extreme Measures series. It is my favorite of the series so far and can be read easily as a standalone. This story follows FBI behavioral analyst Grace Billingsley and prison psychiatrist/FBI Supervisory Special Agent Sam Monroe (Romanos) as they work together to track down a serial killer and deal personally with family-related issues. The fast-moving, cleverly crafted, action-packed plot is replete with exciting twists and turns which lead to a surprising, satisfying ending. Compelling, believable characters enhance the impact of the story. A dash of romance and faith lessons in forgiveness and overcoming guilt add depth to the narrative. I loved the sneak peek at the next book in the series! I thoroughly enjoyed this thrilling, finished-in-one day read and highly recommend it. I could not put it down! I am really enjoying this romantic suspense Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason. Each story features one of the strong women who met at juvie when they were young, they have remained friends, and turned their lives around. They can definitely be read as standalone stories, but I have been enjoying reading them in order. In Critical Threat, FBI behavioral analyst Grace Billingsley sees the worst of humanity in her job. Ironically, she is working with the son of a serial killer on her latest case. Grace is asked if her faith influences how she interacts with people she investigates. "Yes. It does. Does it have an influence on the spiritual lives of those people? I don't know. I leave that to part to God. But mostly it has an influence on me. I know the truth, and I pray for wisdom to see through the lies of those I come into contact with, such as those who'd protect a killer. Being able to discern a lie from the truth can mean saving an innocent person's life." In this book, we do get a bit of a scary inside view of the killer's mind as well as how he leaves his victims to be found. I'm not typically a "Criminal Minds" TV show watcher, but for whatever reason, I can't put down Lynette Eason's stories! The good guys in this story are flawed and both dealing with past family dysfunction, as well as the stressfulness of their jobs in dealing with evil on a daily basis. Over the years they've learned coping mechanism and sometimes use morbid humor. (Which I get a kick out of.) As this story unfolds, they learn to face their past in order to move forward. I cannot wait for book 4! I highly recommend Critical Threat for fans of romantic suspense. Thank you to the author and Revell for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
