I love the features. I use it for tracking when I am riding my motorcycle, especially when in remote areas. This last weekend I used it for the first time and really liked the fact that you can test it before leaving so you know it is connected and working. Then when the tracking is turned on, it gives feedback on how often it pings with the Satellite. Very comforting to get home and see the last time it pinged on the tracking feature and to know it is working. I used a different brand prior to this purchase and there were many times I thought it was tracking and it was not. The Garmin is sooooo much better.
Peace of mind, navigation & critical emergency device

Will work anywhere. SOS function works without a subscription. Learning from many other hikers' experiences, this can be the only way to get life-saving help. I sometimes bring it on remote drives, and always on long xc excursions. Route tracking is another great safety feature. My family appreciates notifications during my long hikes, and I don't worry about them calling SAR when I'm late!

The device is exactly what I need for active hiking and outdoor activities in my 70's. Happy with the size and function of the device. The set up software was very difficult to use. My daughter has an InReach and has set hers up; she helped but also had trouble. With a full day of effort we were finally able to get everything working.

Received as a Christmas gift... Setup was very easy. Instructions were clear and simple. Hardest part was choosing a "plan". Works as advertised in remote areas with zero cell service. Will be a big comfort to my family when I do backcountry rides. Advertised battery life seems pretty amazing! If you're looking for something simple, but effective, this device will fit the bill!
So far so good!

Overall this is a great product. Definitely have to watch a few videos on how to use the entire device to its fullest. My main complaint is with the subscription service. A little over priced for the options.

I enjoy the breadcrumb feature and how quickly the InReach connects. The battery life is also great, only used 50% on a 4 day trip without turning it off.

I'm impressed with the functionality and reliability of the InReach Mini 2 so far and it's a must have device to keep. However, typing a text message without a keyboard is quite cumbersome but acceptable and haven't figured out if there are numbers to tab to anywhere. Also, the minimum 10 minute interval for maping and sending waypoints makes the route look like straight lines between each point. Again all understandable and acceptable because a real live tracking every inch of the way would be a lot of data to use and not necessary for a real emergency situation which is what I wanted and believe it will work great for that.
Excellent ... A "Must" Have!!!

I absolutely love my Mini 2! It is so reassuring to have "Backup" when / where you need it .. knowing, if you get into trouble, someone will come.
Peace of mind, but 1 concern...

When this works, it's amazing!! I have one concern- I used this on the Salkantay Trail in Peru during the rainy season, when there were mudslides. My concern is there were times when we reached basecamp and GPS would not work due to cloud cover. Without much experience with the device, it was concerning to know whether an update was sent to recipients tracking my progress or not.
Loved the old inreach

Generation 1 inreach was great. Texting from 25000 feet was easy. I could text ahead to family and friends. Text ahead to drivers. Now it’s all way too closed. Can’t figure out how to text from Garmin pilot to someone’s cell without use both downloading the app. Used to be great. Now it’s not. But I do love the usb-c upgrade. Nice add.

Bought the InReach Mini before my section hike through the Sonoran Desert on the AZT. On day 4 of the hike, I slipped on loose rock and tore my hamstring. I was four miles from the trailhead in a remote area without cell service and could not walk. I pressed the SOS button. Within 45 minutes, Garmen had the Sheriff's Department's Search & Rescue helicopter there. Garmen communicated with me and the Search & Rescue Team throughout the entire process. Incredible device and even more incredible people!

I love this little device, it’s super easy to use. I’ve had no problems with connecting it to my iPhone. The explorer app and messenger app work great. I haven’t had issues with battery life but I feel like it could be a little bit better at times. The cost of the subscription is a little pricey but you’re paying for peace of mind so I get it.

Honestly I haven’t been out on a road trip but it’s all set up and provides us with a lot of comfort knowing we can text or hit SOS in case of an emergency when there is no cell service which is many remote areas when camping !
