Works Perfectly!

Without question, this roller works outstanding when rolling kitchen cabinet boxes on site (spraying doors, etc. off-site). I have not checked the mil thickness but this roller works perfectly on both vertical and horizontal surfaces laying on tops coats of either Benjamin Moore Advanced Gloss or Satin, and also for top coats of Farrow & Ball Full Gloss. These rollers in capable hands, will lay the pain on beautifully. *And DON'T tell me about lint from the roller in your paint! Come on..... Prep the roller Dummy! I'll roll it through painters tape for 20 times before I rises, rub, spin, rinse, and rub and then spin and then dry just right. All this in less than one minute, and the product works better than expected. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed. The roller left blue lint/fibers and huge paint ripples. Will never buy again, it was a waste of money. I should have read the reviews first. The lint/roller fibers seem to be a problem.

Used this roller because we wanted a super smooth finish on the final coat of a desk, we ended up with blue/green lint in the white paint on all surfaces. We should have stuck with the Wooster roller we used for the first coat, we now need to sand down and recoat to repair after using this Purdy roller.

Worked great for oil based marine spar urethane

Works as advertised. Used a high quality ultra soft brush to apply spar urethane and still had brush strokes. Be thorough with the delinting (rolled over painters tape as another reviewer recommended) and you will have a superior result.

I had to paint some desktop's and I wanted a smooth finish so I got the Parrot rollers hoping for a very smooth finish. First thing I did was de-lint the roller covers. Then I washed the rollers and de-lint the rollers again. I was using a semi-gloss paint. I started painting the desktop's and all I see is lint in the paint as I'm rolling. I had to stop and let the paint dry and then sand the desktop's again and primer the desktop's again. Now I have to find a different roller that will have a very smooth finish.

I bought these without reding these reviews. Luckly for me I saw these reviews before trying on my actually small finished shiplap wall project. It was already sanded and primed and was ready to pain after nailing to the wall. I want the small no texture appear of a sprayer without using a sprayer. I "de-linted" the brush with tape, washed the brush thoroughly and "de-linted" again with tape after it dried. I tried on only a small section. Well still left lint. Useless product suggest buying a different roller if you want a smooth lint less finish

i keep seeing reviews of these so called "painters" leaving 1 star because it left lint. Any real painter would cover the entire nap with tape to remove any loose lint before painting any surface. This is a good smooth finishing product when used by the right hands.

This product is the only product I use when I apply finish coats on our garage doors, entry doors, or other wood staining projects. I have 15 years of staining/finishing experience on wood products and this product beats them all. I see a lot of terrible ratings on this product. Its unfortunate. Here are 2 basic rules to follow....#1, always de-lint your roller covers. It doesn't matter what type it is. DE-LINT. If you don't know how, its easy, set up your roller and run it up and down some painters tape. #2, use the right product. In a day and age where products are constantly changing due to the EPA, do some research. Product makes a huge difference. Don't use a product with a fast dry time. I like to use SIKKENS Cetol 23 or their Clear Maintenance product, it has a much slower dry time and therefore longer working time. Glass-like finish will depend on sheen(matte/satin/gloss/high gloss). Good luck! I've attached some photos of finish work recently done. NO LINT, AND GLASS-LIKE finish as promised.
Do not buy!

I’m generally a big fan of Purdy products when it comes to painting, everything from brushes to roller covers. So when it came time to paint my doors, it was a no brainer to buy a Purdy product. Unfortunately it did not leave a smooth finish and also started to leave lint. Luckily I was able to wipe some of the lint off and hit the door with my foam roller which gave way better results. Purdy, stop selling this garbage, you’re just watering your brand down.

I have been painting for over 50 years and this is the first time that a roller proved to be completely useless after the second stroke. The painted area was full of lint and quite bumpy. It looked the complete opposite of glass-like finish, high quality or professional. Luckily, I was able to wipe off all the paint and save having to sand it off.

We purchased this 2 pack of the Parrot rollers to paint our new front doors. Also purchased a Purdy brush, will write separate review of it. We were so disappointed in these rollers. We wanted a perfect finish for our new front doors, and everyone recommended this product. We have had to sand and repaint several areas of the doors due to picking lint out of the paint. It was the most money we've ever spent on rollers and a frame, and the worst performing product.

Not happy like a lot of others. I read about these rollers before I purchased and followed advice from others about washing and using 5 in 1 tool under running water before using and it did not help. Thought I made it worse so opened up the second roller and used tape to get any lint off and I still had lint all through my paint.

Just rolled my bathroom walls with Parrot roller. The walls were primed with two coats of primer and sanded absolutely smooth with 320 paper. I was taken in by claim on cover of mirror finish. I am using high gloss paint and I completely understand the importance of prep. I might as well have used a standard 3/8" or 1/2" nap roller. I now have textured walls not anything that resembles a mirror finish. Would you like to send someone over to sand down the texture created by your roller? Didn't think so. I'm sure your lawyers have it all figured out. Why would you advertise such lies??? I now see, looking at the reviews on your website that my experience is the common one. My next internet search will be "class action suit".

Smoothest finish and most efficient!

LOVE these rollers!!! Without question, the parrot rollers are capable of delivering the smoothest finish and best coverage of of all other techniques /rollers I have used in the past, plus, made the quickest work! I could be wrong here, but a high quality paint probably makes all the difference in the world as well. My success at using the parrots was achieved through heavy loading of the rollers, then rolling out paint onto my surface, evening it out, then laying the paint off with my Nylox brush. These rollers will hold an extremely hefty amount of paint for their size! I washed mine before using them with soap and warm water, then hand dried them with a hand towel right before use and had zero issues with "lint". Good luck!

Horrible roller and expensive failure as I also had to buy the handle that goes with it. The handle that will fit no other brand of roller cover. I was refinishing cabinetry and got hooked in by your mirror like finish claim. I may as well have used an old piece of shag carpet to put the paint on - that’s how bad it looked. I had to sand off the mess and go buy another brand of 1/4” nap roller covers.

No smoother finish than Dove, more lint
2 out of 5 stars
TheDoc - 7 years ago

I had been using the Dove roller covers with good results. I decided to try the Parrot to achieve an even smoother finish. In the end, the finish is no smoother - just has a different texture (less of an "orange peel" and more of a "leather" texture). My main complaint, however, is that these covers shed fibers - badly! I always tack my roller covers off with masking tape before use to catch loose fibers, and despite that, the things still left fibers embedded in my finish. I like Purdy brushes very much, but these roller covers have left me unhappy.
