Q: How long does this last once it its opened?

submitted by D - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out to us. Ideally, food should be consumed within 5-6 weeks from when opening the bag to ensure freshness. When the package is closed tightly and stored in a cool, dry place, the product will remain fresh and nutritionally balanced until the Best If Used By Date on the package. Remember, pet food is food. It should be stored in ways that are similar to how human food is stored. Store all pet food in a cool, dry location that is off the floor. It is not recommended to store food in the garage or outside since those locations often lead to insect infestation. When possible, store food in the original bag and within a plastic or metal bin with lid. - The ONE Team

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I switched my dogs to this food when they turned 7, and they are now 10. I've noticed amazing results these last few years. They are both mentally sharp. We still do training sessions several times a week. Their coats have never been better, and they have no digestion issues. They both have energy for days, growing old hasn't slowed them down with this food for fuel. We still go for 10 mile hikes several times a week and enjoy hours of play in the yard. They are clear of any joint health concerns thanks to Purina giving their bodies what they need. I'm very picky when it comes to caring for my dogs, even more so now that they're getting older, but this food has been been great for their overall health. I remain very pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually love your products but this dog food shouldn't be sold thought with the extra chicken pieces my Minnie would love it but no she stopped eating and when she got hungry she would pick through it for the tiny hard dog food so after a few days I couldn't figure it out and I had a few of my friends dogs try it and they did the same thing so I took a piece of the chicken pieces and bit it and it's foam or a cardboard type stuff which is crazy ridiculous I don't know if you are cutting corners or what but there needs to be something done before dogs get sick if any of them eat it cuz the ones I've had try it will only eat the dry dog food not thr chicken pieces so I would really appreciate some one getting back to me

My little dog will be 17 this Fall! She is still super alert and shows no mental decline. She has no signs of arthritis or joint problems, and is happy to walk a mile or two each morning. Yes, as a senior dog, she sleeps more and is almost deaf but overall her abilities at this age are amazing! I’ve always fed Purina, but this advance in nutrition and longevity is science at its best! We’re confident we’ll have our Dottie for many more years! When Purina develops a “senior people chow” or supplement… we will be customers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sarge is a fine looking senior, weighs in around 100 lbs. He moves likes he's in his prime. That's because he has been a Purina pup, adult and now "Vibrant Mature", 12 yo. Cold weather slows him but he still guards the backyard. Good food from Purina has kept him strong and heathy.
