While this litter doesn't contain blue colored pieces, it has black pieces and these are activated charcoal from coconut shells. They are added to help absorb and control odor. Changed the formula. Now it just congeals and barely clumps. Clumps stick to the bottom of the box and roll up when attempting to scoop the “clump”. Lots of dust, tracking and the odor is no longer absorbed. Have used this formula for years but no longer the same dependable formula. Use to be light gray and dependable now it’s dark gray and doesn’t fully clump and leaves little tiny particles of the “clump” throughout the box. The cap that was greenish was the great formula, the yellow cap is the new unimproved formula. With so few “unscented” litters on the market, it is sad that what was a great product has been ruined by someone trying to “improve” what was already a great product.

I have been using this product for about a year now, and the most recent tub I bought is a completely different color and texture (dark gray and sand like, when it was light gray and large granules). The odor control that used to last 10 or so days is completely gone, and it no longer clumps but just congeals on the bottom of the litter box. Even with a stainless steel box, it still sticks! I will most likely make the switch to a different brand unless Purina confirms the changes, and will be telling anyone who I recommended this litter to not to use it.

Came here to reiterate that this is not the same product I have been buying for YEARS. This new litter is dark, doesn't clump, and STINKS. I've also noticed what appears to be irritation on my cat's lower abdomen, which may have been caused by this product as nothing else in the routine or environment has changed. Won't be repurchasing.

Worst litter EVER

This is THE absolute worst litter I’ve ever used in my entire life even though it is good for odor. But the clumps turn into absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to clean mud inside the litter box. It feels like I’m trying to shovel out concrete with a spoon. And I have a very large and weighted stainless steel litter scooper and i can’t even scrape the wet litter out. I literally took a high pressure hose to my litter box outside and STILL had to struggle to manually and painstakingly remove the wet litter and to top it all off it tracks EVERYWHERE I was constantly sweeping up and cleaning litter off of all my surfaces not just the floor, so it was absolutely disgusting and I saw muddy little paw prints 🐾 everywhere too. So it wasn’t bad enough to have such an extremely difficult time cleaning out the litter box itself, but my house had to be sterilized even more. Instead of having tight little individual clumps of urine, it would become one gigantic massive chunk of heavy clay that would need to be removed. It’s incredibly wasteful because I clean the litter box every day so it’s like a litter would have to be replaced pretty often. Not effective disgusting and completely wasteful and expensive. I give it -5 stars

I actually looked up this website just to leave this review. This use to be the best litter I'd ever used, but you've clearly changed the formula. It use to be a light gray, with found ball litter pieces and completely dust free. It's now a very dark gray, almost powdery sand like consistency, and completely dusty garbage. It honestly looks like dirt. It's bad enough that you jacked up the prices during covid and never lowered them. I can get bargain litter for less if I wanted this hot mess. I'll be switching back to Arm and Hammer.

I originally purchased this cat litter for two reasons. One, is that the price was right, less than I've been paying for other cat litter. Secondly, the container itself had a screw top which in my opinion is better than trying to puncture a hole in the side of the container. There's a perforation but it hasn't worked well for me. Regardless of those two positives, I won't be purchasing this again. This has been the worst cat litter for tracking that I have experienced. I found cat litter all over our house. It's as if my cat is walking into the litter box and bringing the cat litter with him. I'm having to vacuum, and sweep everyday because of this. Huge disappointment. My experience, they all track to some extent but this has been the worst..

Something has changed! I have used Tidy Cats® Free & Clean® Unscented Clumping Cat Litter for a very long time. I have allergies so this was the only litter that didn't bother me. It has also worked very well for my multiple cat household of rescues and fosters. The odor control was great and you could walk in my house and not smell that we had 7 cats in here. This last 10 refill packs - the litter was dark grey (had been light grey/white in color) and it doesn't clump like it was and my house stinks! because it is not clumping or holding the odor. It's also affecting my allergies. The cats are unhappy with the litterboxes and some decided to use the carpet. It's been a huge mess all the way around. I'm very UNHAPPY customer. I don't know if the formula was changed or there was an error in a batch but I will no longer buy this product. I'm going back to the drawing board and hoping something will work for my allergies and making the cats happy again with their potty boxes.

Came to leave a review and see several others already with my same experience; something has changed. It does look different and is sooo dusty now. It is tracking worse as well. The lid color and container handle changed awhile back and that was when I noticed the change in the actual litter. I spoke with someone at Purina/Tidy Cats and they were adamant that there was no change at all. Not the best customer service when it’s obvious something is off. So.. will be finding another brand now.

This cat litter is terrible, it sticks to cat’s paws and tracks all over. My cat had been licking it off her paws and it was the cause of her serious constipation, it expanded inside of her. We had to have X-rays and an ultrasound to find this out, spent thousands because of this awful litter!

Changed formula... I've been using this product the last 1.5 years or 2 years about and the last few batches I've purchased have not only been a different color which is not necessarily bad but it's been obviously a change in the formula because the pee used to clump like 95-100% and now it clumps idk maybe 60% or even less. It ruins the litter and it's smellier because of it. I purchased this specifically for the clumping and now it's not doing that anymore... Why bother changing a good product. Did they think we wouldn't notice?? Crazy

This is horrible doesn’t clump at all, sticks to litter box. It smells it not scent free at all , it stinks, smells bad. I will never use this ever again even if it was free. Urine smells in my whole place. I got this because they were out of up & up fragrance free cat litter . Next time I’ll just goto another store , don’t wasted your money

I’ve been using this litter for YEARS. I thought it was great no issues… like other commenters it’s not the same! The last month or so the newest containers were VERY DUSTY. I recently figured out my cat has the start of asthma. A litter change made a difference.

Horrible litter-Dust on everything

I switched to Tidy cat low dust, no scent. Worst mistake I ever made. The house is for full of dust on everything, Dust goes flying whencleaning out the litter box. Not good for anyones lungs, human or cats. I never even had this much dust with cheap litters. I dust and 12 hours later everything is covered. Purina needs to remove the claim Low Dust and use your own litter inyour homes to see what you think. And, why is fragrance free in every product more expensive? They're using less ingredients. It should be less expensive. Even tough there is no scent, the massive dust plume is worse. I'm done, need to go back to cleaning.

Packaging Sucks

The delivery guy did the best he could. The items in the delivery boxes were packaged incorrectly. Putting a 20lb kittylitter container in a box twice it size only allows for issues with no paper or bubble wrap. Three continers in one large box 2' wide, 3' long 12" high with no type of wrapping along with one lid off and litter inside the box. The folks packaging these items are plain flat lazy. All five boxes had issues of the litter breaking the boxes.
