Summary of reviews
The recent changes to the maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal have left many guests disappointed, as they feel the flavor and texture have significantly declined. While some guests appreciate the convenience and quick preparation, the overwhelming sweetness and artificial taste have led to a loss of loyal fans. Guests are seeking a return to the original recipe that made this product a staple in their households for years.

I enjoy this made with water in the microwave. Add butter before serving. Same great taste I have enjoyed for a number of years.

I love oatmeal and the packet of Quaker's instant is convenient for workdays. While trying to cut back on sugar, I thought I would try the lower sugar option. I will never purchase this product again. The maple & brown sugar smells like celery, seems extra salty, and leaves my mouth feeling and tasting as though I ate a jar of celery salt. It's not good! Sorry Quaker but it needs to be better.
We don’t love it…

The hidden vegetable extracts (purple carrot in particular) is an allergen in this family. I didn’t realize until after I purchased it and nearly gave it to someone who cannot have carrots. What happened to just putting maple/brown sugar and oats in this?!?! Why the additional flavourings that are not necessary?

My morning breakfast for years until the recent formula change.. I’m very disappointed. It really tastes bad. I will not be purchasing anymore. Please change back to the old formula!
I love it!

These are the YUMMIEST! AND super healthy too!!! They are perfect for a healthy snack, a nice bedtime snack, breakfast, or anything in between. I love adding banana slices but they are also good on their own.
Lost it’s flavor

Oatmeal itself is a very good nutritional meal. As one looks at the ingredient list and the packaged oatmeal you’ll find many added ingredients that are known not to be so healthy. One of them is specifically sugar which has got 7 g. I would Suggest using regular oatmeal without all the extras
Way Too Sweet

The taste is way too sweet. I really miss the original Maple and Brown sugar product from the 1990s before all the recipe changes took place. I would eat this every morning. Now I buy 1 box per year hoping that the taste has improved. It hasn’t. I like the idea of added fiber and protein, but I want the taste and texture to be what it was.
Better then cereal

This is my favorite flavor because it goes well with fresh banana slices, apple, and/or walnuts.
13g of sugar in a 45g packet?

I initially gave this three stars until I started looking at the total sugar in this 45g packet. 29% of it is sugar (13g). I was okay with something different than I remembered from the taste and texture since the formula changed. I am not saying it is better or worse; there is a difference. I am unsure if there are fewer oats, but I am leaning that way. There is a big block of something that I am assuming is the maple and Brown sugar flavoring, which is made up of the monk fruit extract you are using now. And I am sure the added sugar content went up. 7g of total sugar and 6 g of added sugar, a total of 13 g for one packet (45g). 29% of the packet is sugar!!! I am an adult, so I choose not to give this to my kids. I am looking at all teh other packets to see the Total sugar content.

Maybe the company can answer this problem. Why on Earth after eating Maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal meal that I smelled like it for a whole day. Even when I woke up after brushing my teeth at night my mouth still tasted like maple syrup. Why is this. I read others complaining about this as well
Awful.

Absolutely disgusting. Used to be one of my favorites but it’s nasty now. Smells awful. Tastes awful. No matter how much or little liquid you add it’s watery with hard oatmeal pieces.
Nothing like it used to be. Not good!

New recipe has 12gm sugar - 9 months ago
originally posted on quakeroats.com

There’s 12gm of added sugar in the new instant oatmeal, and less actual oats. I can barely eat it and will be making slow cooked oatmeal from now on I guess. I will not use anything with fake sugar.

I eat the protein Maple and Brown Sugar every day and have loved it until recently. They had to have changed their formula and it is NOT good at all. In fact I can't eat it anymore. Whatever they did to it, the new formula tastes and has the texture of curdled milk. I am so disappointed that they changed a good thing. I stick with the adage if it ain't broke don't fix it. It was definitely not broken but it sure is now.
