That is because there are many tiny holes in it like a window screen. It feels like rough burlap or a window screen. Even if I fold it in half, it is still very sheer. I think I might use this as a backdrop instead or fold it into thirds to cover my kitchen window. If you don't mind sheer curtains, this is cute.

The texture of the curtains is kind of weird. They feel like a stiffer gauze like material. Fabric content is 100% polyester. I like the length of the curtains. I like how they fit in my window. The print of the curtains goes well because I grow plants in the room that the curtains are in. I will have to get another set for my other window in my plant room. I like that the curtains are sheer and they still let some light into my plant room. Overall the curtains are nice and liven up a room.
