This is the story of a group of men who began in caves and after thousands of years, found a sign: an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake. It is also the account of the birth and fall of the great Tenochtitlan, hegemonic symbol of one of the empires with the greatest influence in pre-Columbian America.
And it is the chronicle of the emergence of New Spain with its viceregal splendor, a preamble to the storm of independence that was looming in the domains of the Spanish Crown.
This is how the first volume of the collection Érase una vez México(Once Upon a Time Mexico) begins, a different way of rediscovering the Mexican past and arousing the reader's curiosity without frivolities or allegories.
