submitted by DarciT - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you for asking this question!

submitted byLoren - 9 months ago

  • A: Hi DarciT, that's a great idea and I'll share it with the team! We know white toilet paper is the option of choice for consumers which is why our toilet paper is white.

Q: Is it approved for septic tanks?

submitted by SS - 4 years ago
  • A: It doesn’t say it is anywhere on the packaging…I’ve decided to return it just to be on the safe side… definitely not paying for any septic tank issues it may cause.

    submitted byJenn M - 4 years ago
  • A: I use it with a septic, and haven't had any problems.

submitted byMaryB - 2 years ago
  • A: Here's the FAQ entry about that on their website: https://reelpaper.helpdocs.io/general-questions/is-your-toilet-paper-septic-safe And in case that link stops working, here's the text: "While every septic system is different, we have customers on septic and we recently concluded biodegradability testing in July 2019 of our toilet paper and we're happy to say that we're certified “ready biodegradable”; Reel is 3-ply so if you have sensitive pipes or have been instructed to use a certain ply/brand by your plumber we recommend adhering to their advice." Here’s a link to the certificate: https://bit.ly/2M8qsYO

Q: Someone said ECF still means chlorine on the product. Can you validate? Also is the product hypoallergenic

submitted by SJ - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi SJ, ECF whitening doesn't use elemental chlorine but rather chlorine dioxide, which is chemically bound to oxygen so it doesn't bioaccumulate (meaning living things don't absorb it). In fact, according to the American Forest and Paper Association, ECF whitening is a pollution prevention technology recognized and accepted globally by such organizations as the United Nations Environment Programme, the European Commission, the International Joint Commission and the International Court of Justice. It's an alternative bleaching agent that eliminates the formation of persistent, bioaccumulative toxic substances. And yes, our toilet paper is hypoallergenic.

Q: is it fragrance free and chemical free?

submitted by Claire - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Claire, yes, we're fragrance-free! Like most white toilet paper, we whiten our 100% bamboo toilet paper rolls using elemental chlorine-free (ECF) technology, a process in which no elemental chlorine is used in the bleaching sequences. Domestically, ECF bleaching is recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as being the “Best Available Technology” to bleach paper products. Our 100% recycled paper towels are whitened using ozone, oxygen and/or peroxide (which also means no chlorine).

  • A: Not TCF though (Total Chlorine Free), which means they unfortunately still use Chlorine Dioxide.
