Book Synopsis
A family gathers for a celebration on an island off the west coast of Ireland. When an unexpected visitor drops by, tensions begin to surface. Over the next twenty-four hours, scores will be settled, beliefs challenged and truths disclosed, ultimately jeopardizing their entire future together.
Mark O'Rowe turns his laser focus on the deep currents of family life with a masterfully orchestrated drama which resonates with biting humor, profound insights and extraordinary authenticity.
An exhilarating, high-wire ensemble piece, Reunion was first produced by Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival in 2024, directed by O'Rowe himself.
Review Quotes
"A major show... a demolition derby that leaves emotional wreckage all over the stage... hugely entertaining."--Irish Independent"A zinger of a play doesn't flag for a second... enormously enjoyable... with meaty characters, multi-layered action, emotional entanglements. It is just a joy to watch."--Irish Times"A comedic and dramatic delight... O'Rowe's script is a masterclass... his observational brilliance and economic dexterity elevates language to a whole other level... perfection."--Arts Review"O'Rowe's writing and direction toe-curlingly communicate the painfulness - and the humour - of vicious, expletive-laden arguments."--Guardian"A sharply observed and neatly structured portrait of galloping narcissism and neurosis."--Financial Times
