Consistent and dependable motion alerts are an essential feature for the Ring Mailbox Sensor to function properly. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review. It sounds like the device is not operating as you expected in regards to false alerts. The Ring Mailbox Sensor is a wireless, battery-powered motion sensor that tells you when your mailbox is opened. Ring Mailbox Sensor works with your Ring app and sends notifications to a smartphone or Alexa-enabled device when the device detects motion. We would like to share some information with you regarding what may be causing unwanted motion detection on your device. Ring Smart Lighting devices, such as the Ring Mailbox Sensor, use a technology called "passive infrared," or PIR, in order to detect motion. PIRs detect motion by detecting changes in heat. As a result, there are other factors that can trigger your device to detect motion. Take note of the weather in your area. Shadows and clouds can cause temperature fluctuations in an area warmed by intense sunlight, and this may trigger unwanted motion events. High winds can be warmer or cooler than the settled air, resulting in motion events as well. Once you've taken into account the environmental factors that could be impacting motion detection, you can adjust the sensitivity of your device through the Ring app so you only receive the alerts you want to. Follow these steps in the Ring app to adjust the settings: Tap Devices. Select the Ring Mailbox Sensor. Tap on Motion Settings. Tap on Motion Sensitivity. Select the Sensitivity. The Ring Mailbox Sensor is a wireless, battery-powered motion sensor that tells you when your mailbox is opened. Ring Mailbox Sensor works with your Ring app and sends notifications to a smartphone or any Alexa-enabled device when the device detects motion. With Linked Devices, Ring Mailbox Sensor can be set to trigger Ring Doorbells and Cams to begin recording, or Smart Lighting can be set to illuminate, as soon as motion is detected at your mailbox. The Mailbox Sensor goes on the inside of your mailbox door. Rest assured, we hear your feedback and are here to provide you resources to pass your suggestion along. The Mailbox Sensor antenna goes on the outside of your mailbox, and its cable needs to run inside to the sensor. To avoid damaging the cable, there must be a hole or gap for the cable to run through.
