Description
Make your home a safer place for your child to play in and explore with the Safety 1st Outlet Cover with Cord Shortener. Help keep curious little hands away from potentially-dangerous electrical outlets with this outlet plug cover. Covering the entire outlet, the cover keeps excess appliance cords off the floor, storing up to four feet of cords, depending on thickness. Easily remove and replace the outer cover with the child-resistant dual-press operation by simply pressing both side tabs simultaneously, while gently pulling the cover away. Along with appliances like lamps, televisions, and computers, the outlet cover works great with standard-size phone chargers, safely winding their cables out of sight. This kit includes one replacement wall plate and cover. A flat-head screwdriver is needed for installation. Remove the cover to clean, wiping it with a damp cloth and allowing it to dry. Safety 1st believes parenting should have fewer worries and more joyful moments, so you enjoy every “first” your child experiences.

We use these for outlets that we keep things always plugged into, like the baby monitor above the crib. They take a few minutes to set up and are kind of bulky but I like them. They seem secure enough for my wild baby.
Only works on standard outlets with thin cord

Most of the cords in my nursery are box plug, not the small two prong outlets. This allows a box plug to be plugged into the top outlet but of course then it covers the bottom outlet. Also, a thicker cord (like the one on my child-safe electric heater) doesn't fit in the slot to come out from the case.
Not for Decora style outlets.

Works great if you have old style outlets but doesn't work with Decora or GFCI style. An update would be nice.

I am on the fence about this, it works great for generic two prong plugs. It is to small to sit flat on the outlet and will not allow the box plug on our baby monitor or router to plug in without the top attached. It is also to small for the three pronged basic tv plug. I wish it was flatter and the top was wider.
I am extremely Happy

My 3 year old was unplugging and trying to plug back in, he is my Hudini child. I have gotten numerous child locks and guards. This one was most useful!!

Does not fit a cord for a power strip. Would only fit a very thin cord that does not require grounding.

Really hard to get the cover on and cords wrapped around. Easy to screw into the outlet at least. There had been different pictures on this listing and that is what I had been expecting. The other ones sort of open up from the center

These didn't fit on our plugs but my husband drilled a hole or two and we made it work with that adjustment.

Only fits very thin cords. Bought for desk that baby likes to crawl under, but laptop charger and monitor cords are too big to fit.

Love that this is deep enough to fit over the plug for our Nanit baby monitor. It sticks out about 2.75 in from the wall and every other cover I found wasn’t big enough. This covers just enough so my toddler can’t unplug it anymore.

our outlets have two screws, one on top and bottom of the plate. this only attaches with one middle screw. so we can't use it and will be returning it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The concept is great for toddlers who may have figured out how to get your plug covers out, but it's honestly a pain to have to open. If it's an outlet you don't plan on having to use often or in a child's room, it's perfect.
Perfect timing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My youngest son is 15 months & i call him my tornado lol. His most recent site of destruction is cords & outlets. So this was right on time! This stopped him from yanking any charging cables out or devices/appliances that were plugged in. I'm hoping this cover would come in a different shape like a box so it wouldn't stick out so much or to be a better fit for certain furniture. It would also be great if it could fit different sized charging ports.
Creative Product for a common problem!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure at first if I would like this product because it seemed a little bulky and awkward to use. But honestly, I had nothing to lose by giving it a try and I ended up really liking it. It kept an east to access outlet inaccessible by my child as well as helped limit the available cord for my child to tug on and potentially harm himself with a toppling lamp. My cousin-in-law is currently expecting and I have already recommended these to her as she also has animals in her home and could benefit from being able to shorten some of her electrical cords in addition to keeping her new baby away from outlets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish I had these with my first kid. How great to be able to pop off the cover, plug in a device, close the cover, and know that tiny fingers aren't going to be playing with and active cord or outlet. I love the peace of mind I feel in knowing my baby is safe from outlets, while still being able to utilize power sources. Highly recommended
