Awful!! Head piece broke in half a year later, have no idea how that even happens. The cup holder comes off every time I take my daughter out and rolls under the car. The bottom buckle is always a pain to get out from under her to finish buckling. Do not recommend at all, wished I had chose another brand.

I got this carseat a few months ago and it has been a great seat other than we took it on vacation and since the cup holders do not securely lock in place they fell off and out of our gate check bag for the carseat so I no longer have them and can't find a place to re-order another set

This seat came in quickly and was ready to be installed right out of the box. Installation was your typical carseat style hook and latch and did't take long at all. It has a nice slim profile which was perfect for our family's 2nd vehicle, a compact sudan. The adjustable height and straps is easy and seemless.

I wish this budget friendly option was better. If you’ve never had a more expensive car seat, it’ll probably be fine. But once you’ve had a higher quality one, don’t even bother. I can’t believe how often the straps twist on the buckles, and how difficult it is to move the buckles. It also doesn’t feel very sturdy even though I know all seats go through the same testing process to be on the market. Just go with a better brand
This thing sucks- do not buy!

Its a no from me - 8 months ago, Verified purchaser
Okay so we bought it March 2024 and it just broke August 2024. Only lasted couple months. We literally just put my 23 lb son in the car seat and the head part snapped off (with the Styrofoam under it). He wasn’t put in rough or anything to force that, so I’m just super shocked at that. And shocked that all that would protect my son if something happened would be styrofoam. Also, the cup holders NEVER stayed in. We would twist them in & everything, but my son was able to just take them out and toss them. I do not recommend this car seat. Thankfully we got a full return & bought the evenflo convertible car seat.

I recently received this car seat to try from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I have a 5-year-old who is on the small side. She hates the buckles on car seats, so we tried the booster set up for this carseat. She was very excited about it because the seatbelt could be used instead of the car seat straps. I am unsure if this is an issue related to my car or just the way that the car seat and seatbelt happen to work together but the seat belt does seem to lock up on her a lot.I think she still likes the seatbelt option better than the buckles though. It's just something of note. Set-up wasn't too bad. Honestly my husband read through the directions and it took him a few minutes to work it out. I think in terms of space, it does take up slightly less seat space. I know this only because when it's time to buckle her in, I am able to find the seat belt buckle next to the seat without having to dig around for it. I think with other car seats I have struggled with finding the buckle because it would fall under the base of the seat. But that didn't happen here. I really like that the cup holders are removable and can be used in the dishwasher. The only downside is that they are too easy to remove to the point where they have fallen out and one has been lost already. Overall I think it's a nice seat that is versatile, but with a few areas where I think there could be improvement.
Slim Comfortable Attractive Carseat

First of all, getting this seat out of the box it was very attractive. The colors and fabrics looked like a higher end seat. The cup holders are pretty nifty too with the easy twist and lift detach. The seat did feel a little less solid than others I have but we haven't had any actual issues related to that. Installing the seat was a little tricky but eventually we were able to get a good snug install with both the latch connectors and seatbelt. Getting it back out was a little harder. In general I tend to have a lot of trouble with the seats with the push button buckle type of loosening function. With three kids, it's important for a car seat to meet our needs while being compact enough to fit 3 across and this one fit the bill! I tested this seat with my almost 5 year old and 5 month old and they could both fit in it with the easy no re-thread adjustable harness. My 5 year old said it was quite comfortable. There is a piece located behind their backs that sort of accordion folds down to allow for the adjustment. The one thing I didn't love was the way the straps loosened. The straps only loosened slightly from the top and then also loosened from the sides. This did make getting the 5 month old in and out a little trickier than I would have liked. I couldn't figure out how to fully loosen the straps until they were all the way unbuckled which was just a little awkward and different from what I was used to. I would compare this seat to some other light/affordable seats that we use for travel. Just based on where our kids are in terms of types of seats right now, I don't think it will be our every day carseat. This is mainly due to the trickier install compared to our click in and out baby seat and the way the straps loosen from the bottom/sides. For the price this seat is a good deal and we plan on giving it to the grandparents for use when they are watching the kids. I received this car seat to test through the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

Thank you to Stellar Review Panel for providing me the Safety 1st TriMate™ All-in-One Convertible Car Seat! First off, the one first thing I noticed straight out of the box was the beautiful colors of the car seat. It's actually not one I've seen before so that really stood out to me. Feeling the fabric of the car seat, it felt soft and moisture wicking which is excellent for the Arizona heat. The overall construction of the seat I felt like it was well made and sturdy. My son felt completely comfortable in the seat and with the recline adjustments, he was able to sit without having to bend his knees. Since this car seat is an all-in-one I can totally see this working with my boy as he grows into a toddler and school age. Safety is the number one priority for me so with this car seat being able to have him rear-facing until he's 40lbs and up to 40" is AMAZING!!! I'm also currently pregnant with my 3rd baby and I'm highly considering purchasing another one since this looks like it would comfortably work with an infant. I love how slim this car seat is. We have a Nissan Pathfinder and we could easily fit 2 of these seats without compromising space or being able to get to the 3rd row if needed. Installation was a breeze! We were able to tether the seatbelt through feed easily without struggling. Once everything was installed it didn't budge making it completely safe and gave this mama a peace of mind. For the price point, aesthetics and safety this is a wonderful car seat. I definitely suggest for any mom/dad/family on a budget. It has everything you can ever need and want! Thank you again Stellar Panel Review.

This car seat is incredible! Its slim design allows for multiple car seats to fit comfortably, without sacrificing the comfort for your child. It was easy to install, looks great, and has all the features you could want. And, it's a 4 in 1, without taking up the entire back seat! We received the Safety 1st TriMate™ All-in-One Convertible Car Seat through the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and we are so happy we did!

My toddler thought it was comfortable, the cover itself felt slightly stuffed, versus an actual pad on the seat. The strap you pull to tighten the harness is located pretty far down the front of the seat, so if your child is still rear facing and depending on the angle you have the seat in your car, it could make reaching this strap difficult. If you are installing the seat and not switching from car to car frequently you can make sure the strap doesn't get stuck but I feel like it would be inconvenient to constantly check that I don't secure the car seat in my car with the strap stuck between the car seat and regular seat. Adjusting the bottom buckle was easy, same for the height of the shoulder straps. For forward facing kids, I liked the higher sides of the seat by the legs, but I feel that this would not be good for rear facing kids since they have less room to move their legs about. They'd be forced to have their feet up on the seat of the car, instead of having the option to splay their legs out to the side a bit if the lip of the car seat was lower. I have three kids, so I know the extra shoulder room is appreciated. The cup holders are too easy to take out. I like easy to remove ones for cleaning but my toddler was able to remove these on her own and I see her dropping them off the side of her car seat (like she does most things). Another issue is the chest clip felt very flimsy and thin. Other chest clips are thicker and sturdier than this one. Plus getting it undone was not intuitive and some older adults in our family had a hard time getting it undone. It says PUSH, but it's actually push down AND push to the side to unlatch it. I much prefer chest clips that come undone with a squeeze motion. The bulky bottom clip was also difficult to get a decent grip on. I received this as part of the Stellar Product Test Panel. I would not recommend this seat if you are an older adult or grandparent caring for a child compared to other slim seats on the market.

I have used Safety 1st car seats for the last 6 years and love them! This one, however, is absolutely terrible! Can't even use the lower anchor belt because of how it is attached to the seat. No matter how much you tighten the belt, the one side where the belt is attached to is extremely loose. Not a big deal, I can use the seat belt, NOPE! If you use the seat belt tightened all the way, you can't even tighten the harness.

I loved the lightweight and simplicity of the design. It had everything you needed and none of the extra weight and bells and whistles that you don't. It was extremely easy to take in and out of the car which is important for us! It is very easy to take out the cup holders if needed. The buckles were easy for my three year old to take on and off themselves, which always makes things easier. I received this car seat as a part of the stellar product testing panel and am so glad I did!

Cup holders CONSTANTLY fall out, which is annoying. But the biggest problem? The latch belt will NOT tighten to secure the seat properly if you're installing per the manual. The fabric material keeps sliding off, cup holders coming off barely being touched, cannot latch using latch system, and it just feels overall cheaply made. I don't trust my kids' safety in this seat at all.

I love this ultra slim, all-in-one convertible car seat from Safety 1st. It's slim and lightweight design make it a breeze to install yet it's sturdy build gives you piece of mind knowing your child is safe. It has a comfortable seat and two convenient cup holders to hold drinks and snacks. My son said it's as comfortable as his graco booster seat. The material is soft yet easy to clean. I used it as forward facing harness car seat and as a forward facing high back booster. It's very versatile while providing safety and comfort. My favorite feature is it's ultra slim design. As a mom of 3 kids - 6 yr old twins still in booster seats and a 4 yr old in this car seat - space in the bench seat of my ford expedition is at a premium. This car seat is several inches slimmer on the seat then others I have tried. Yet it is still wide enough to be a comfortable ride for your growing child. The slim design makes it so easy to buckle everyone into their seats. Loading everyone to hit on the road takes seconds! This seat will also fit in the back bench seat of my car and allow other booster seats to fit. This is an impressive feat! I'm hard pressed to find any cons with this car seat. Well done Safety 1st! I recommend this car seat especially to parents with multiple children and if they have a younger child that this car seat can grow with while providing ample space in the car. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing panel for allowing me to try this car seat in exchange for my honest review. I would highly recommend this car seat to others.

I was lucky enough to test this through Stellar Testing Panel. Very impressed with the overall design and look of the car seat. We travel a lot so comfort is very important. I also love the 2 cup holders on both sides, but they do easily come out. I just had a newborn a few weeks ago, a 15 month old and a 15 year old son as well. It was such a tight squeeze in my little Camry backseat but with this Safety 1st compact seat, they can all fit comfortably when needed. My 15 month old isn't the best traveler but he seems to be much better with this seat versus others. I think as all my children grow, these seats will be a life saver as buying a bigger vehicle just isn't in the cards for me. The install process was simple and straightforward. It seems like changing the settings and flipping it forward or rear facing will be super simple as well. Overall, we've liked the seat very well and are excited to have something that will grow with our child!

We have a Prius c. It's tiny in all directions. I received this as part of a Stellar Product Testing Panel. The Trimate is narrower than our other compact carseats at the hips by about half an inch which is helpful, but still not enough to get even my skinny tween in the middle seat. Our van fit 3 across easily. The main thing companies seem to forget is that compact cars also struggle with front to back space between the rows when we are considering rear facing. We have not found any RF seat that would let a passenger sit comfortably. But this one does ok behind the driver at recline 2 (6+mo), especially if the driver is willing to sit up straighter. My main complaints with this seat are with the latches & the cup holders. The latches are the basic hard to pinch ones & I struggled the most to detach them. Some people have reviewed that installing tight was impossible , but the manual states to pull the strap back through the belt path to tighten, and once I did that, it was plenty secure. As for the cupholder, my toddler has done nothing but repeatedly take it off & throw it around the car while I'm driving. I gave up & detach them completely when he's in the seat. Both of my carseat kids liked the padding a lot (crotch buckle padding for boys ??) & it was easy to adjust the latches between RF/FF/booster + sizing the straps was thankfully quick. We had a safety first alpha omega for my now teenager & not only is this a vast improvement by the company for comfort/ease of use, it's also a much better fit particularly in booster mode. This Trimate actually gets a proper booster belt fit for my tiny 6 year old. Very exciting! This seat won't get most kids RFing past 3 years & they'll probably max out the FFing/booster height a few years after that, but it's a great 1 & done seat for compact cars that doesn't break the bank.

I received the safety 1st TriMate all in one convertible car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel for my honest review. First impression was the pretty color (dunes edge), it's something different than the traditional black and grey color scheme you normally see. I love how lightweight the entire seat is, most convertible car seats are rather heavy. The material felt quite plush and comfy and the shoulder strap covers were large so it covered more surface area, less chance of irritation on my little ones delicate skin. I can see this car seat growing with our toddler for the car seat needed days, there is plenty of room to grow. The head rest extends upward as well as the straps, the move together to grow with them. Installation was pretty easy, using the anchor straps I needed my husbands help to get it tight enough so it wouldn't move at all, there was no way I could get it to that level of tightness on my own. The slim design of the seat took up no more room than an adult sitting in the seat themselves, you could easily have two of these in the backseat of small suv. I drive a '14 jeep Cherokee and no problem with room. After installing and using the car seat for a bit I was not impressed by the construction of the car seat, it was rather "cheap" like. The headpiece was loose and was rickety, easily moveable with a simple shake. The cup holders would not stay in the grooves of the seat, my toddler could easily knock them off and on to the floor of the car, completely useless

I was given this all in one car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The seat was easy and straightforward to install. My son is 4 so I removed the infant insert. He also didn't like the strap covers, they're too thick, so he rides without those as well. The seat is very lightweight and slim. Much slimmer than my previous seat. I often have 3 kids in the back, and though 2 are out of car seats, they still fight over space and have a hard time buckling their belts. This seat solved those problems since it is a lot more slim. My son is constantly taking the cup holders out and throwing them around the car so I do wish they didn't come out so easily, but do like the fact that they are dishwasher safe. I haven't had an opportunity to wash the cover yet so I'm not sure how that holds up. But overall it's a decent, affordable, slim car seat.
