Q: So your pictures show no buttons. So how does it work? Will anything placed on it turn it on? You say it "warms candles" I hope you mean candles in glass jars? Is this site run by 12 year olds?

A: Salton Illuminated Mug Warmer model #SMW2094BKW has no buttons. There is a power switch on the A/C power cord 2.25 inches from the mug warmer. This unit is not weight-activated. This unit operates at a preset temperature and is not variable. We strongly recommend using tempered glass or ceramic holders when using this mug warmer with candles.

Yes I know this says its for a mug to keep your drink warm but as soon as I saw the image with the candle, I knew exactly the purpose I had for this item in my life - melting leftover wax from my candles that can't burn anymore. The scent throw is just as good as if they were flame lit! One thing to note was that the wax doesn't evaporate as it would if the candle were lit so depending on how much wax you're warming, you will know when the scent has finished.

I got this product for warming/melting candles, so I can't speak to its drink-temperature-maintenance capabilities. But it works great for candles! I actually really appreciate that the light is on when the warmer is on, because it would otherwise be too easy to forget that you've left it on. Plus, it replaces some of the lighting ambiance from burning a candle.

I started noticing yellowing on one particular part of my ceiling and when I tried to figure out why, I realized it was directly above where I have burning a scented candle for as long as I can remember! I hated it, especially knowing the smoke from the wicks is what was causing the discolouration. If that's appearing on our walls, what's entering our lungs!? Looking for a solution, I found the Salton Mug Warmer! Of course I had to go with the illuminated version for additional ambiance that I was giving up now that I don't light the wicks anymore. My candles have never melted so evenly and the scent carries just the same as if it were a lit flame! Super impressed. Need more for every candle in the house!
