In recent months, I've employed the SanDisk 4TB for storing video files, but unfortunately, I've run into an issue with file corruption. As I played the videos, I observed banding and digital glitches in some of them. Curiously, the original sources didn't display this problem. Adding to the complication, when I extracted files from a zip archive on the same drive, they also experienced corruption. To address this, I had to redownload the files from my cloud backup to another drive, overwriting the affected files. Regrettably, this solution didn't consistently resolve the problem. Seeking assistance, I reached out to tech support, only to be informed that it was a Windows-related issue, and they were unable to provide help. It's worth noting that this isn't a Windows problem, as other drives on the same computer are not exhibiting the same issue.

the drive is WAY too unstable and corrupted without notice. The warranty doesn't cover data recovery so I really wasted my money. Don't waste yours.

I have several. Different sizes. They have each failed me. I would love to have and feel confident enough to use them as the size and speed is attractive I have read the reviews from others, along with the standard replies from SanDisk. Wondering if SanDisk will replace the ones I have have with new products. If so, makes me feel better about using them. The risk of losing images is too large to not have confidence in any storage device.

I have 3 of these drives and they have all worked as one would expect. From that perspective I would rate it a 5; however, reports of sudden and complete failures prevent me from using them in critical need types of situations and force me into a frequently backup mode. I am not sure I can trust the drives stability and durability.

Considering the (now) available firmware update, presumably to address widespread dire complaints about this drive, I decided to risk it and I am not disappointed. Certainly the luxury of transfer speeds in the seconds versus yes of seconds is one you can live without but if you try it once, you’ll appreciate it.

I have two (although one had to be replaced by WD/Sandisk, since it never worked), and I have used them for a while without problems. I particularly like that they don't require 'spinning up' when I want access to the data, and are very responsive. They are somewhat faster than the HDD connected to the same computer even when those are spun up, but letting those drives rest when not needed seems to be prolonging their lives (I use them for 'hot backups' and long-term storage, while the SSD's are for actively processed data).

Buyer Beware and make sure your data is backed up elsewhere, this drive will become a very expensive paper weight. I just purchased one of the SanDisk 4TB Extreme Pro V2 drives in the past week. Initially I was thrilled by the performance and that I had 4TB in a very sleek form factor. Then about an hour ago, my drive died for no apparent reason. One minute everything was fine I got up from my computer and came back to discover that all data was gone, the drive was renamed to "Untitled" and I could not do anything with the drive. Fortunately all the data on the drive was backed up elsewhere. Still very disappointing from brands I have trusted for years. Evidently this is a known issue with this particular drive so hopefully it is just a manufacturing defect that WD-SanDisk will resolve very soon. Google issues with this drive before you make your purchase. Multiple posts on Reddit concerning this very issue with this particular drive.
