Saris Bones Trunk Bike Rack, Bike Rack for Car and SUV, 2 Bikes

I gave this rack to my daughter as a gift (along with additional straps) and she said that it was simple to put on and to remove. But she was also happy that it could just fold down if she knew she would be using it again within a few days. Good purchase for the money.

bones 2 is tough and durable! solid support on all sides.

Great alternative if you don't have a hitch. No issues yet.

Easy easy to assemble and take on and off of my car

I own a 2014 Subrau Legacy Limited and was in the market for a trunk mount bike rack which was manufactured in the USA. Not that easy since just about every product out there is made in China. Wait your thinking he owns a Subaru, its made in Lafayette, Indiana and to my surprise Saris is made in Madison, Wisconsin. I made the purchase (July 2024) for the Bones 2 trunk mount rack and am very pleased with my decision. To my surprise it was easy to mount on my Subaru. I would definately recommend this product.

Innovative design and high quality construction and materials. Works great on my 2024 Subaru Legacy. Good instructions. After you put it on a couple of times, you figure out how to install it and remove quickly. I would buy this product again. I added a bumper topper to help protect and provide additional support to the bumper. I also made a 4x4x1/4 inch plywood piece and insert it into a folded up wash cloth the same color as my car. I use this on the trunk lid under the supporting arm to prevent scratching. The extra surface area provided by the wood piece ensures my truck lid does not get dented.

No issues at all. Been on many multi-hour drives with 2 bikes on there, highway speeds, bumps, etc and not one problem yet. I used to have to look in the rear view mirror constantly out of fear of bikes bouncing around but not ever with Saris. The thing is great.

Purchased it a month ago and used it a couple of times. This replaces my older unit which was metal and heavier. Bones is all plastic, and some screws look like they will wear down and loose their thread in a short period, but so far the rack has performed well and very stable. No damage to my car. I like the extra alternative straps that go inside the truck for reduce risk of scratching.

I love the product. It's affordable but structurally sounds. Unfortunately, it does take me a bit to put everything together on my wagon. I have been able to utilize the rack with both a gravel and road bike with no issue. I have a Subaru Impreza 5Door Wagon. I also opted to purchase the hitch huggers which has work best to secure the rack on a wagon-style vehicle rather than the enclosed metal latches.

My first bicycle rack!! I've wanted one for decades and now have what I think is the best. The rack assembles easily and it provides a very stable platform for my two bicycles. The first usage was a 400 mile round trip to Northern Michigan and the bikes were secure and stable.

Bought this last week. I don't understand the directions. They're just pictures and no words.

Bought a Bones 2 bike rack after I saw one on another car of the same make as mine - a Saab 9-3 (niche motoring, I know). The rack come out of its box and is easy to fit and use on my car. Only minor issue is that I seem to have 2 x "top" hooks, 3 x "side" hooks and 1 x "bottom" hook. Doesn't really affect usability though.

I purchased this to transport or bikes on my new to me car after gerri g ride of my truck. I considered a hitch mount but after learning that the frame would be drilled an d a part of the install was to smash the rear heat shield with a mallet I looked at alternatives. I considered a roof rack which added up to around 800 to 1000 from mainstream manufacturers, and would either need to left in place interfering with wind defection gasket around the doors or be taken on and off as needed and was a considerable exercise to do so per the internet videos. So chose a trunk mount for ease of install and removal. I was not disappointed the United came assembled and all that was needed was adjusting. I recommend marking your points on the teeth that hold the arms in place so you can close it up as it was in the box and store it with a minimum of space being used. After install I mounted the two bikes a Cannondale Foray and a Cannondale Tread well both have the bent and low top tubes of the frames. They fit perfectly paying attention the seat tube strap for proper direction and the bikes are very secure. I would recommend the wheel straps be added to the unit or small bungies to keep the front wheel from flopping around. Took it around and on the highway at 65 mph and no issues were found. All in all a w ell made, useful piece of equipment that was reasonably priced.

got this as a gift, attached it to my subaru hatchback in 3 minutes, drove about 200 miles with it, hit speeds up to 105 and stayed in tact. Bike rack is super simple to use, looks great and isn’t cheaply built like other bike racks

works great after the first time, just a learning period, and I color coded my upr, side, lwr on lft and rt, and don't forget, after tensioning all straps, knot all tails for security.

It is very simple to mount, it's good quality and price. Only thing that metal hooks could have some rubber in them, it wouldn't scratch a car, now Iam putting some soft stuff.
