Great product, great value

This rack feels very solid yet is relatively lightweight. Contrast this to the "hanging design" of my previous Yakima rack, which was much heavier and cramped, accommodating only three adult bikes at best rather than its claimed four. The levering motion is very smooth to retract / lower the rack, and getting bikes on and off is a breeze. The instructions could be a bit better, possibly, but maybe a bike rack is something you just have to mess with on your own until you figure it out. Also, one must be sure to keep even the unused frame straps strapped (tightly) to prevent the small grey insulating pieces from blowing off and sailing away while driving.
The sweet spot.

This was my third hitch bike rack. My take would be that you can go cheaper and damage your bikes and have the rack fail after 12 months. Or you can go more expensive and get something that looks cooler but adds absolutely no benefit for the core purpose of carrying 4 bikes. Or you can get this rack which does the job perfectly for the best price.

I did tons of research looking for a bike rack to fit two adult bikes and two small kids bikes (12” balance bike and 16” pedal bike). We were able to fit our whole family’s bikes on this rack and it seems super secure. Easy to figure out.

Works great! I had no problems assembling this myself. It fits 4 bikes of varying sizes with easy adjustments of the supports. Easy to lower and raise with or without bikes. Easy to remove when not needed. This was exactly what I expected. Sturdy product that is highly versatile.

We have had the rack about 5 years, regularly carrying 4 bikes, and have always been happy with it. A weld did start to separate at one point, but Saris replaced the part no problem. Handles bikes with fenders!

I’ve had the bike rack for about two years now. I am completely satisfied with this product. It has been very durable and is extremely, is extremely adjustable, and the price point is great. Having kids all of there are very important but none more important that adjustability. The kids are always growing so the bikes are changing but the rack does not have to I live it.
Best Investment Ever - Superb Bike Carrier

I am newer to the world of bike carriers but have tried a Yakima, Thule and others. My first test for this rack was a 16.5 hour drive from Chicago to the Florida coast with 4 bikes (2 adult, 1 Jr, 1 kid). It was incredible. Zero sway, zero movement, nothing! The bikes were incredibly secure and was super easy to set-up. The tile feature works great and so does the hitch lock. I could not be happier and you are crazy to not buy this rack right away.
Briddle plastic pieces

I have had this bike rack for less than 2 years and had to replace the plastic pieces twice. The plastic pieces are brittle and crack very easily. The plastic pieces broke off while I was driving and caused serious damage to my bike. Lucky no one else was injured. I do not recommend this rack and I am currently looking for another brand.
So glad we bought it!

We have really enjoyed taking the family biking after buying our new 4 bike rack. It was really quick and easy for my husband to set up. I love that I can keep it on my car but still have easy access to the trunk for groceries and other things without having to take the rack on and off again. We are so glad we bought this and are very happy to support a product made in the US. Thanks for a great product. We have already been recommending it to friends.

I originally bought 2 bike rack but found it did not fold up when not in use. So bought 4 bike rack. We have ebikes and like the fold down feature that help with unloading. I like the features to secure bikes, good tight fit for traveling.

I bought the Saris Freedom 4 Bike rack about a month ago and I am quite impressed with it. I am not very mechanically inclined but I was able to figure out the installation fairly easily, the online videos do help. Once you establish a particular spot for each bike that you carry, the future setup is quite easy. Some previous reviews questioned the use of plastic parts which I thought were quite well made while also keeping the weight down on the rack. Vehicle rides much better by keeping the bikes as close to the bumper/rear of car as possible. Highly recommend it so far!

Purchased with an initial trip of multi-hundred miles. Setup was good although initially all bolts were not included so had to contact customer service for required parts. That was a packing mistake and not normal. After setup and in preparation for the trip, loaded with 4 bikes and it performed excellently. Loading bikes is easy as is lowering for lift gate access. Minimal movement during travel. Rack looks and feels high quality. There are 4-bike racks for hundreds of dollars more. I'm not sure where the extra value can be found because this one seems to do complete the task at a high level.

For years, I struggled with the 4-bike balancing act on the hitch racks, and finally awarded researching options for an upgrade. Kids bikes are getting bigger. It was time for a change. Goals -- sturdy, warranty, price, quality, ability to maneuver the tail on the truck. Saris made the decision quite easy, as our goal was to be able to load and unload quickly. Kids time me -- 3 minutes. Quicker than the "OH FUDGE" moment in the Christmas Story tire change!! Awesome product Saris, the Freedom 4bike is a smash hit!!

The rack works well to fit all our bikes but attaching the rack to our car is frustrating. The rack has a small brackets for the screw to tighten down to the hitch and is near impossible to keep in place. This is a major design flaw. Our other racks have had this welded directly to the bike rack. We have also had problems getting the rack to fit into what should be standard 2-inch hitch. It fits our car but it did not fit the one we purchased for our camper.

Love the freedom rack! We have had the bones for years and it was fantastic , easy to put on reliable for 12 years but we were going on a 12?hour drive instead of usual and my wife daughter and I needed a hitch rack ..what a contrast ..steel construction but same saris ease of use and great quality as my old bones ...easy to get in RAV4 trunk while mounted which we couldn’t do with bones ...thank you saris ! I call d on manufacture companies for 30 years and retired but love to see your operation ! I’ll bet it’s clean haha

I bought the Freedom 4-bike platform rack about a month ago and it is working well! Very solid, not worrying about my bikes falling. I really like that I can customize each spot on the rack from child-size bikes to large adult bikes. It is easy to use.
