Q: Is this mount safe for MagSafe devices? If so, will the built in magnet work, or will the magnet that comes with the mount alter the magnet already in the phone?

This means you'll still need to adhere the included MagicPlate to your phone or phone case in order to provide your device with the magnetic attraction it needs to secure to the MagicMount. Q: Is the magnet used to attach the mount to the dashboard or to attach the phone to the mount? Are all dashboards made of metal under the vinyl covering?
A: The MPD-XTPP1 includes two MagicPlates which are simply metal plates. The MagicPlates are used to attach a mobile device, such as a phone, to the magnetic mount. The actual magnets are located in the mount itself. Q: Can this be used when there is a case on the phone?
A: Yes. You can put it on the phone under the case, on the case, or if you have an otter box like I do you can put it on the hard case under the rubber outer case.

Q: is this big enough for a Garmin gps

The dimensions of the mount are 1.68 Inches (H) x 2.08 Inches (W) x 1.71 Inches (D) whereas the Garmin GPSMap 720 is 8.8" x 5.6" x 3.1". Q: How does this fair in extreme heat conditions? I am from Texas and it's not uncommon for adhesives in cars to melt away.

Q: Once the unit is mounted on the dashboard is it removable or is this permanent (and will it leave a residue)?

Q: I have a pop socket on the back of my phone, positioned in the center. Is it possible for this to attach below the pop socket? There is about 1.5" between the pop socket edge and the bottom edge of the phone. Thanks!
