Our Scotch® Shipping and Packaging Tape is made with a 1.5" or 3" center core opening, the 3" core refill rolls are available in all styles of packaging tape we make (making 3" core dispensers more advantageous). Many of our 3" core dispensers are purchased with a roll of packaging tape on them as well. 3M is charging premium prices for lower quality products. People trust the brand name and don't realize that this is the cheaper to produce version of the classic packing tape. Also, these refills are much smaller than the single rolls. It seems like you're getting a better deal with the three pack but you're really not. It's just another way 3M is tricking consumers.

Was looking for the heavy duty while in store and saw this. Thought it was a steal. Nothing tough about this. Can tape things together so two stars for that. If you want barely sticky tape that can be pulled off easily, this is the tape for you. Sticking to heavy duty.

Compared to other brands, this tape is thicker which means it is harder to rip but it is harder to stick to items. Because of the tape’s durability, it is not flexible which leaves lots of air bubbles. It is also easy to remove from a package which is mostly a con. All in all. It works, but it is not the best.

Looking at all of the recent negative reviews, it seems like something has changed with the quality of this product. The non-sticky side is very slippery. When I pulled a section of tape away from the roll to start it, the rest of the roll just fell away onto the floor. The sticky side barely adheres to the non-sticky side. It was impossible to use in a handheld tape dipenser, because the sticky side wasn't sticky enough to hold onto the roller. I actually looked at YouTube videos about how to fill a tape dispenser thinking I might have being doing it wrong all of these years! Nope. It's definitely the tape.

This tape was smaller than I thought, but it did the job. I tried to match the size with the dispenser I already had. The width was smaller and the roll was bigger than my dispenser, so I needed to use scissors to cut it.

Always used this tape since the dawn of time, but the pack I just picked up was weaker than office tape and even less adhesiveness. Tears super easy and refuses to stick. I used it up just because I didn't want to throw it away, and it went fast because I had to use so many layers to make it work for even light boxes.

This tape sucks! It doesn’t stick to the boxes! I wasted so much tape trying to make it stick! The tape ended up peeling from the box again!! Worst tape ever!

Does not stick!!! I always buy 3m for some reason this tough grip does not stick to cardboard. Put it on a package and didn’t get to dropping it off at post office until a few days later, and the tape was completely off the package!

DOES NOT STICK TO SHIPPING BOXES! Made such a mistake. Waste of money. Had to lay 4 strips of it before decently sealing a box. The “storage” tape is much better.

I had to put about 4 strips just to keep the box closed and even then it still came undone. With me having to do so many strips on one box I went through a ton of rolls.

This tape is not strong, it does not have a strong grip. I have boxes that are coming untaped right after (minutes after) I tape them. The tape easily peels off without trouble, maybe that is intentional but it shows how weak it is. Better to not be fooled by the name and just get shipping tape instead.
