I love Scotch sponges but noticed lately they have soap in them. After using them for a while, they begin to smell and the smell bothers me so I have to toss them in the trash before they even get fully used.

I have been using these for YEARS to do dishes and loved them. The last few packs I’ve bought have been horrible quality, within a few days the sponge side crumbles with bits falling off. I thought maybe I had a bad pack but any new ones I buy do the same thing. Now I’m on the hunt for a new product because I can’t keep buying these with this issue.

Aside from needlessly changing the shape, the quality has suddenly deteriorated unacceptably. All the versions start falling apart within 10 days. I assume the idea is to 'drive' the consumer to buying more often. What it does though is drive me to checking out other alternatives as I consider the harm to the environment of the microplastics going down the sink. Cellulose seems to be the answer as sea sponges should be left to do what they do peacefully. And sea sponges don't biodegrade all that quickly. Just because 3M is using recycled plastics doesn't make the sponges 'sustainable.'

Weird coating

Does not scrub as good as it used to. Within the past two years, the green part has been replaced with something much less effective. It also has some weird coating of who-knows-what that makes it so that water literally cannot even stick to the sponge until after several attempts at using it. I returned one as defective, but the next two packages also had the same problem of this annoying and presumably-toxic weird coating!

What did you do to our favorite sponges? We always buy a large pack at the club store. This new design is a complete waste now. They don't retain as much water and fall apart so easily.

Ive been using these forever (im 76) and have always found them to be good quality and lasting. In the last year, and several diff purchases, the quality has gotten SO bad i will be looking for another product. The sponges are drek and start shredding and falling apart after just a few uses of normal dish washing. Very disappointing that yet another tried & true product has turned into crap.

I have bought this product for over 20 years but just recently this product doesn’t last anymore as they have changed the sponge which crumbles in one use. You can use a brand new sponge and rinse it underwater and then just squeeze it out and the sponge is already breaking up before you even use it. I will not be buying this product anymore 😡😡😡😡

I don't know what or why the scrub side changed (yellow/green scrub sponge) but it's HORRIBLE & CHEAP now!!! Seems to gave changed when you changed to the wavy one. Don't "fix" or change what's not broke!!!! They used to last but now it's like a week before the scrub side starts shredding/falling apart. Not cool to make a cheaper product so people have to buy more often to line corporate pockets! I'm sure my review (or others that have posted similar) will make a difference, but it should when you ask what people think!

This is my second and last purchase of Sponge Brite heavy duty sponges. They are the worst sponges I have ever used. They start falling apart with just a few uses. Disappointing is an understatement. I tried to upload a photo but I didn't have that option. Also, option O-Never doesn't work either.
