On her eighteenth birthday, Cleo receives a mysterious gift, which turns out to be an invitation to a scavenger hunt. Cleo figures her best friend Hope, or her brother Conner is behind it, but neither of them claim responsibility. As Hope and Cleo embark on the hunt, all the clues point to Cleo's dead abusive boyfriend Declan, who drowned during a group rafting trip a year before. Seven Dirty Secrets is an intense, fast-paced, nail-biting, twisty thriller which will keep you up late. The scavenger hunt plot was clever as it increased the tension and creepiness. Seven Dirty Secrets also sheds light on abusive relationships and how even an intelligent person can get sucked into one. I liked the main character, Cleo and her determination to follow her goal of being a forensic scientist. Overall, an entertaining, well-constructed mystery/thriller. Thank you to the Sourcebooks Early Reads program for a complimentary copy.
