Q: Can these be used for swimming workouts in an indoor pool?

submitted by Swimmer - 3 months ago
  • A: Hi Swimmer, thanks for reaching out about Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones - Black (S820-ST-BK-US) No, these Shokz Bluetooth Wireless Headphones are not designed for swimming. While they have an IP67 rating, which means they can withstand sweat, rain, and splashes, they are not waterproof enough for submersion in water. Shokz does however offer a different model, specifically designed for swimming, called the Shokz OpenSwim. Those headphones have an IP68 rating, making them fully waterproof and submersible. They also have built-in storage for music, as Bluetooth does not transmit well underwater. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Summary of reviews

The OpenRun Pro 2 headphones offer a comfortable fit and impressive sound quality, making them ideal for various activities like running, biking, and office use. Guests appreciate the lightweight design and the ability to hear surroundings while enjoying music or podcasts. However, some have noted that the battery life could be improved and that sound quality may not perform as well in noisy environments. Overall, they are a solid choice for those seeking bone conduction technology.

Unfortunately, my bone phones or my spouse‘s bone phones were stolen and I cannot afford another set. Do you have a plan or something to replace them after 44 years and cancer? He had to have his left ear taken out and this is the only option he has for listening and stereo to audiobooks and stuff like that… any ideas other than buying another set? We had to buy a subset before….

    Mini but still too loose

Bought these to wear while running and cycling outdoors. Fit is loose and that allows a loss of sound as there is not sufficient contact to get benefits of vibration. I have used a hair clip to hold these in place but not sure how comfortable that will be on long summer runs.

    Volume is underwhelming

Volume is very weak. Any background noise completely drowns out music even with headphone at full volume. With a fan and bike rollers during indoor training I can barley hear the headphones. At full volume people near by can easily hear what is playing. If you want to actually hear your music an in ear style would be better.

Great for awareness and avoiding the sweat and ache from earbuds

Overall I am enjoying these! If you're like me and wearing in-ear buds is uncomfortable, and over-ear headphones get too hot when working out, then these might be the thing for you. The sound quality isn't top of the line, but it's not meant to be. The app is easy to use and controlling the EQ is a breeze. Additionally, because I run outdoors and walk around the city, situational awareness is extremely important. I've narrowly avoided being hit by a car because I heard it rev at the stop sign where I was crossing (they would have run me over, I'm sure of it). I can't say the same if I had been wearing something that was noise-cancelling. That said, these are trickier to wear during the winter because of the wraparound band at the back; wearing anything covering your ears/head feels strange. I chose this because I don't want to be hanging onto individual pieces and it can wrap around my neck when I'm not using it, but now I'm wondering if I should have gotten the OpenFit 2. Lastly, if you're wearing a hat plus glasses/sunglasses, long-term use may prove uncomfortable because of how they hang on your ears. Still, I feel I am better off with open-ear listening for the benefit of being aware of my surroundings and avoiding inner ear discomfort and gross sweat.

These are the best earphones I have ever owned. The sound is of quality, and I also can hear my surroundings. I forget sometimes that they are even there! I just wish they made the OpenSwim Mini. Even though I had bought the standard at first. I bought a second pair of Mini's that are absolutely perfect for my head!!

Could not keep earbuds in my ear . these work wonderfully. They are comfortable except when you want to lay your head back. However, you can move them so that they are a little more comfortable. I would recommend them especially for exercising.

    Trying to do too much

I had the shokz aeropex before getting these and want to like these as much as my last pair of headphones but they just miss the mark. The reason I like the aeropex is because they were true bone conducting. In order to try and improve the sound quality shokz has introduced a speaker that puts bass and deep notes directed to your ear. While this does improve sound quality compared to true bone conduction headphones it still is not capable of providing the same quality as over the ear headphones. However anyone that wants bone conduction I feel is so they can still hear what's going on around them. These speakers totally defeat that purpose as you cannot hear what's going on around you unless the volume is at near zero. These are not the best for sound quality and these are not the best for being able to hear what's around you. Shokz has created a product that fails in both areanas.

Everything about them is what I expected from shokz. The only reason I have to give 4 stars is because the phone call feature doesn’t use the bone conduction setting so hearing the phone call can be hard.
