Since the microphone is wireless, you will need the karaoke machine so that the wireless microphone is able to connect. You can not use the microphone by itself. HOWEVER, once you have the machine powered on and the wireless microphone connected, you DO NOT HAVE to be playing any music. You can simply power the machine and microphone on, connect the microphone to the machine, and once the microphone is connected simply speak into the microphone. The karaoke machine will act as a speaker. You may also adjust the volume on the karaoke machine to your desired level. We hope this information is helpful to you. We have partnered with Stingray Karaoke Channel who designed a streaming app that includes over 100k+ karaoke videos (subscription required) or you can search other music platforms that have karaoke videos available for streaming...
