I have used this product for many years . This last batch is not the same. It is dark and does not mix to form the gel solution it should. I thought it may be a batch problem but reading the other reviews it appears it is now changed from it’s original . I will not be recommending or using this again. It does not mix at all.

Sorry to hear that you are not having your desired experience. Hopefully this additional information can help. These are fibrous materials that will not dissolve completely and finer ground powder (with smaller particles) will typically take longer to gel than larger particles, due to the differences in surface area. Some experts recommend mixing slippery elm powder by adding only a small amount of water to the desired amount of herb and mixing to a paste, and then adding more water and mixing more to make it easier to drink.
DO NOT BUY IT!

This is not the same slippery elm that I’ve been buying for 11 years. This is my 4th bottle of NOW brand and the product is totally different than my past 3 bottles. It looks, smells, and tastes different. I was hoping it was just a bad batch, but after seeing many others mention the same issue, it seems that NOW has a different supplier or something, I will have to search for a different brand for slippery elm, and I have lost my trust in NOW.

Thank you for your review. We understand how frustrating it is to have a product not meet expectations. We have not recently changed suppliers. The raw material is confirmed by sensory analysis (appearance, taste, and odor) and by sophisticated High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography to confirm genus, species, and part of the plant. Instead of the powder, you may want to try our Slipper Elm 400mg capsules: https://www.nowfoods.com/products/supplements/slippery-elm-400-mg-veg-capsules

Unfortunately, the drug is not suitable at all. I’ve been using it for several years from another company and know what it should be like. This one is already darker in color. But the most important thing is its consistency. It should gel or become like regular starch jelly. This powder did not dissolve and remained watery, squeaking under the teeth.

I’ve used and loved Slippery Elm Bark for years for digestive/intestinal issues that I have from time to time. I finished up an older bottle that I had and ordered a new bottle before I ran out. Apparently the formula to produce it has changed since I last bought it because it wasn’t the same at all. My previous bottles always had a wonderful gel like consistency of the bark after it mixed with hot water and sat for a few minutes. This new bottle doesn’t. It mostly stays really watery regardless of how long it sits. And it tastes different also. I’m not saying it’s a bad product and it has helped me but it’s not the same as it used to be
