A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in Smart Tiles. They can be installed over wallpaper as long as the wallpaper is in good condition (without damage) and without texture. Be sure to clean the surface with a degreaser product such as TSP before installation.

A: Hello Kay, thank you for your question. We do not recommend any extra adhesive along with Smart Tiles. Smart Tiles are a do-it-yourself peel and stick tile made of an adhesive substrate topped with a gel component called Gel-O™ (giving a 3-dimensional effect).

Q: Do these only work on flat wall surfaces or would they stick to an existing flat tile that is around the bottom half of my fireplace area (below the mantle)?

A: Hi Jessica, Smart Tiles are designed to be applied to smooth, non-porous surfaces and existing untextured ceramic tile. When installing on a non-metal fireplace surround, please ensure that the surface temperature does not exceed 120 °F (49 °C) and is not in direct contact with an open flame or heat source. However, we do not recommend using Smart Tiles on work surfaces such as counter-tops and floors, and by extension, fireplace hearths. In the case of a working fireplace, it would be difficult to control the surface temperature and the proximity to the open flame.

We picked a great neutral subway tile and love how they turned out! They were tricky to cut but that told me that they were sturdy and would last. It will make cleaning so easy and it’s such an upgrade for such a great price. Highly recommend!

So glad I did the google. Was not hard at all from start to finish. Measurements worked perfect as ended up with 1 tile. Follow their basic instructions and so simple. easy and can be done relatively quickly if you desire. Thanks again. anytime I need something like this will be back for sure .

I used the Metro Tripoli Smart Tiles. I'm impressed with the quality and thickness of the tiles. I stuck them over an existing smooth tiled backsplash. I'm extremely happy with the results. • It took almost a week for me to do the entire project, working evenings on it. Including adding the recommended silicone caulk. It requires meticulousness and patience. I used an Xacto knife and a cutting mat. • One thing I loved about the site is that I could order as little as one tile. So, I ordered one of four different styles and colors to test in my kitchen for color and size since color changes in every environment. I was glad I did because some of the samples were too gray in my kitchen. • I took my time and loved that I could pull them off and restick as I went. I kept my fingers off the sticky part as much as I could. I recommend starting by peeling away only part of the back and folding it as you position it so you keep your fingers off the sticky part. • The Smart Tiles are thick, but in some spots, if I look closely, I can see the unevenness of the under-ceramic tiles, but no one else would. • Once the tiles were in, I was shocked at how amazing it looked. It feels like a brand-new kitchen. And friends I have shown said they thought it was real tile. • The tiles I ordered have a shiny surface and reflect other colors in the room, so keep that in mind when picking. • I replaced the old switch plates with new Light Almond plates, which matched perfectly!

I did our entire kitchen in about 4-5 hours with no prior experience and I'm super happy with the results. I laid these on top of our old backsplash. These tiles are easy to apply and have been applied for about a week now and no peeling. I waited 4 days and also applied a white border and caulked around the edges. I love how this turned out and love the ease of these. If you are ever stuck they have an installation video as well. These are low cost and a perfect alternative instead of ripping out the old backsplash and redoing it.

My girlfriend had these in her kitchen and really liked them so we decided to install them in ours when she moved in. Installation was easy enough and they are a breeze to clean. Now our kitchen has a nice pop of pink to give it some more character.

Not quite as easy to put up as I hoped due to outlets But It was way easier than laying real tile and it looks great on the wall! The overlap edge was really helpful. There was one section on the bottom of each piece that didn't have an overlap edge but I'm not sure I understand why not. But it is up and it looks great. I was even able to cut one tile out where I had made a mistake and replace it with a tile from a fresh piece.

Love how this project turned out! I had a beautiful kitchen, but it was a little BORING. Smart Tiles was an easy way to give it the pizzazz it was missing! The cutting took a little getting used to, but amazingly I didn’t waste any sheets in this project. Now when I walk into the kitchen, the beauty and depth of these “peel and stick” tiles makes me so happy. And without telling people, it passes for real tile every time!!

These tiles look like the real deal. They shipped super fast, were fairly easy to install, and look amazing! I have a small backsplash in my condo that has been bare for 10years, and I recently upgraded all my appliances, and it was very bare. I plan to do a full kitchen renovation in the next year or two, so didn’t want to tile it now. A friend recommended these tiles, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
