A: Hello, Thank you for reaching out. They can easily be removed by applying heat to the corner/edge of the tile and gently pulling up where the heat has softened the adhesive. Continue to apply heat as you gently pull up the tile. We do not suggesting forcing the tile up (ripping) because then it could affect the surface underneath. Once removed you can clean any leftover residue with household cleaner of your choice.

Q: 1.Is the backside of the raised area hollow? 2. If part of the embossed area is cut, and you look at it sideways, are you looking at a gap of space or a solid vinyl core? 3.If I push an embossed area with my finger, does it cave in?

A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in Smart Tiles. 1. There are no hollow areas on the tile. However there is no 'raised' area on the grout lines. 2. They are made of an adhesive substrate topped with a gel component called Gel-O™ (which gives it its 3-dimensional effect). The Gel component is solid all the way through, there are no gaps. 3. The embossed area will not cave in when touched. While it is not a hard plastic feeling, it is not soft enough to move with normal force or pressure, however as it is not a hard plastic, constant traffic or sharp objects could damage the tile.

We've been working on our kitchen update for almost a year and I'd been stuck on backsplash options for at least two months until I found these tiles, which were the perfect finishing touch. I actually enjoyed working with these and love the final result. My only installation issue was that the grout edge on the sides of each tile was wider than I liked (it made a noticeable gap, to me, between the tile pieces) so I trimmed the edges so they fit more snugly together. I've just ordered another set of this style to finish the corner kitchen wall, along with another pattern set for my bathroom.

This is my 2nd time around with smart tiles for our kitchen backsplash. The brown mosaic we installed about 10 years ago, and they looked good as new the day we took them down. We were just looking for an update, and didn’t want to spend a ton. We decided to go with smart tiles again, and I’m so happy we did! It took less than an hour to remove the old tiles, and only a couple hours to put the new ones up. Such a great DIY solution!

These tiles were very easy to cut and attach to our fireplace surround. I used the calculated tool and had the right amount of product for the job with a little extra left over. I really like how it turned out; you’d never know it wasn’t real tile! Such an easy way to upgrade/update the look of our fireplace!

These tiles are small and varied in color. The sample image is a good representation of color. I gave it four stars only because, in person there is a shimmer or silver hue to the tiles when they are rotated. Didn’t see that on the site when I originally purchased.

I'm a designer and installed these as a quick short term fix for a kitchen backsplash, with the plan for these to be replaced later on. There were easy to install (take your time prepping the surface first!) and the end result is beautiful and surprisingly convincing... so much so that people are in disbelief when revealed that they're adhesive faux tiles. The texture, sheen, color, and durability are all great. The client loves them and wants to keep them up longer to enjoy them. I would not install these as a long term solution but if you're looking for something to hold you over and to do so beautifully, convincingly, economically, and mess-free, these are a great choice that'll last at least a few years if not longer. We have some installed by the range and a secondary sink, and so far, so good. I admittedly had my doubts in the beginning but after this install, definitely recommend!

I bought these to put over the existing tile backsplash in my kitchen, and they look fantastic. I love that these are water and heat-resistant. They were easy to put on top of the existing tile, and unless you look very closely, you cannot tell these are added on top of existing tiles. I would purchase these again if I ever want to cover tile without the headache of redoing tiles.
