We greatly appreciate your sound comparison between this speaker and another speaker brand. For the sound quality, the XB43 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB43 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision. We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. If you haven't yet, please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. Additionally, we recommended to use the speaker with a sufficient battery charge and keep the software up-to-date (through the Sony Music Center app) for optimum performance. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
