    Go direct to Sony.

    Did loads of research before purchasing 1000XM5 headphones, now I own a set and have used them for three weeks I am very pleased with sound quality. They are comfortable, easy to use and great value for money. Would recommend them and suggest you go direct to Sony as their prices are keen and in my case cheaper than other online outlets.

    Poor Quality and Reliability

    I moved over from Sennhieser based off review siting quality ANC and sound. These headphones are great, when they work. My orignial pair had to be repaied twice, within the 1 year gaurentee for similar issues. Sony provided a replacment when they failed for a 3rd time. The replacment headphones lasted 8 months before failing on a well documented popping issue with the ANC. Sent in for repair and Sony said I would need to pay for the repair. After a frustratrated email reply Sony carried out the repair free of charge. These headphone clearly have quality control and design issues that were not fixed in developmenent or manufacturing. For a premium headphone they arn't even very solid being prodomenmtly plastic and with no IP rating at all. Save your money and buy a brand like Sennhieser.

    WH-1000XM5 subpar design - No Support

    My son received these headphones (WH-1000XM5 as a gift last Xmas from his grandmother and within a year, the plastic connection broke from simple use. Despite having a “manufacturer warranty” , Sony has no interest in replacing or compensating him for a clearly subpar product. My daughter has the same headphones and the charging port melted. Yes - melted. So there is a trend here of poorly designed and supported product by Sony and based on this, I will never buy any Sony products due to the fact that the company doesn’t stand behind their products. I gave my son my Sennheiser headphones and he is very happy with them. Much better headphones. So from one tech-heavy family to another - Don’t buy Sony headphones!!!

    Excellent Headphones

    I've had this headphones for about a month. The headphone is beautifully designed and the sound sound quality is next to none. I love the touch and noise cancelling features. However, it leaks outside noise when you turn your head to the right.

    Sound quality is fantastic. Very comfortable. I took these with me on a trip i took by airplane. The noise cancellation was a game changer blocking out everyone and everything around me. I actually was able to fall asleep on the ride!

    I am very pleased with my new headphones ! The sound quality is excellent. I also want say that these headphones do not have those horrible creaking noises you get with cheaper poor quality headphones when you move your head around, which is wonderful.

    Not worth it

    Headphones totally stopped working in a little over a year, Sony will not offer to repair or any support - they just told me to go find a headphone repair center. Google around, there are known problems with these and the software also sucks.

    Decent performance but uncomfortable and fragile.

    Noise cancelling is great, sound quality is decent once you've tweaked it with the EQ on the app. Headband is uncomfortable after about 30 mins and the hinges feel really delicate. Lots of users reporting quality issues with headband padding, too.

    Fragile Earmuff Stems

    Have not owned more than 7 months and one of the earmuff stems broke. Called for Warranty and they said not covered.

    Dissapointed..

    Noise cancelling is very good...spent hours adjusting the equalizer and still not satisfied with the sound..sound quality for the cost of the headphones is not great..

    Disappiont

    Hello, Today I had a very disappointing experience at Target. Around 3 PM, I saw a discounted price for Sony headphones online. I went to the store, found the item, and was told by the staff that the discount only applies to online orders and I could place the order and pick it up two hours later. I followed their instructions, completed the purchase online, and came back two hours later, only to find out that my order had been cancelled. I spent time and effort for nothing. I am very disappointed with this experience and would like to know why my order was cancelled and if you can honor the online price in-store.

    Manufacturing defect, Sony will not replace

    This is my second purchase of these same headphones, and both pairs have broken in the exact same location. Many other reviews state the same manufacturers defect. The first pair broke after 13 months, and the second pair after only 9 months. Sony will not repair or replace these faulty headphones because “physical damage voids the warranty”. They only offer to repair for $99. This is after spending $658 on 2 pairs of headphones that lasted less than 2 years, and both broke in the same location.
