When young fruit bat Stellaluna is separated from her mother, she's adopted by a family of birds with very different habits in this award-winning and bestselling picture book classic. Knocked from her mother's safe embrace by an attacking owl, Stellaluna lands headfirst in a bird's nest. This adorable baby fruit bat's world is literally turned upside down when she is adopted by the occupants of the nest and adapts to their peculiar bird habits. Two pages of notes at the end of the story provide factual information about bats. "Delightful and informative but never didactic; a splendid debut." --Kirkus ReviewsReview Quotes

Q: what is a board book
submitted by hay - 5 years ago
A: Hi, Guest! Regarding your question about the Stellaluna by Janell Cannon (Board Book): Board books are much safer for small children and infants to handle than their hardcover counterparts where pages can be torn out. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

This is cute but sort of sad (dealing with the perceived death of a young bat’s mother). I feel the storyline and content is too mature for a child who can read a board book. It’s too hard for my little one to follow (toddler age).

This touching story can now be enjoyed with a toddler helping to turn the pages. During the story a child may also learn to empathize with an animal, a bat, who looks very different from their household pets or stuffed animals.
