About the Book
Stepping Up to the Plate is a spicy sports romance that follows newly single Lola as she overcomes past baggage and learns to trust the stoic yet caring Miller and herself!
Book Synopsis
No one wants to catch their husband cheating. Especially in his office. With his coworker. And his brother.
After a messy breakup, Lola moves to Nashville to be closer to her cousin and friends. While rediscovering her wants, needs, and voice, she finds something she wasn't looking for: Brady Miller.
After a decade of playing in the MLB, Brady is feeling the itch for something more. That more comes in the form of a sweet, resilient beauty who moved into his building.
The couple navigates a budding relationship while also reaching for their dreams. Add a rambunctious friend group, toe-tingling banter, a heap of spice, and determined MMC, and you have a recipe for a whirlwind romance.
If only things were always that simple...
Lola
After splitting from my gaslighting college sweetheart, I move to Nashville to be closer to my support system. My first attempt to get back on (under?) the horse ends up in a disaster and I decide to focus on me, especially after learning my crush and in-law's teammate was my mystery play partner. Unfortunately he has other plans. Through a lot of effort and a little dominance, Brady wins me over and shows me what a true partnership looks like. After the press publishes some misconstrued pictures, I realize I lost my way during our whirlwind romance and jump back into my journey of self-discovery. Once I find my footing, I can't help but wonder if there is room for the new me in the arms of the man who showed me what love is supposed to be.
Brady
After scarring off a new playmate, the only thing that takes my mind off the woman is my teammates gorgeous cousin. At first it seems like she is into me, too, but something flips and she can't get away from me fast enough. Turns out, she is my mystery girl and reeling with trust issues and baggage thanks to her ex-husband and parents. I do what I can to show Lola what it's like to be truly care for and supported until a miscommunication causes her to flee and decide she was relying to heavily on me and not dealing with her own issues. All I can do is give her the time and space to find the strength within herself and hope that when we come out the other side I am still the man she wants.
SUTP is the second book in the Nashville Songbirds Series and part of the Nashverse interconnected universe to come. It is a full-length, 18+ open door contemporary romcom with a guaranteed HEA!
Review Quotes
"Going into this book, I thought I was getting a sweet baseball love story... boy is the cover deceiving! Kat packs a punch in this book with her spice but also weaves in great elements of healing, found family, and finding yourself while falling in love. I found myself giggling, getting flushed, and at one moment, slapping my hand over my mouth to say "OH.MY.GOSH." There are so many little details that make the plot engaging and will leave your heart feeling light and looking for your own Brady Miller! A must read for the spicy sports romance lover.
I wish this book kept going, I wasn't ready for it to end!"
"This book was super cute and very contemporary! I really enjoyed the writing style and the plot of the story."
"4.5⭐️ 2🌶️
I really enjoyed this second book from Kat Summers! Lola and Brady are such a great couple and I'm so glad we got their story so soon after Robby and Carina's. They definitely have communication problems to work out but the conflicts were detailed and worked through well. Brady falls for Lola first and WAY harder but she catches up eventually. This is a great story with some well developed characters. Enjoy this book today!"
"I read Stepping Up To The Plate in one day, I couldn't put it down. I loved how it was light and still maintained it's intenseness and seriousness when needed. The characters all had moments and I liked it."
