Still Alice

I found the movie Still Alice to be a thoughtful dramatization of reality. It offered a glimpse into what life can be like for individuals feeling/experiencing a form of alzheimer's regardless if the version one is going through has a familial base or not. Likewise, the movie seemed to provide insight and perspective into how the disease might impact loved ones' feelings/experiences/future as well as lingering relevance to society. Thus, while overall loss to the disease is enormous, the topic is not something to joke about similar to matters of mental health. From the movie, one could see how dealing with alzheimer's can offer learning opportunities as well as the chance for providing positive purpose, respect, understanding, care, compassion and love even when there may have been familial disconnects before the disease. In addition, the movie gave pause to consider how losing one's grasp on self, life and the larger world resembled living on a merry go round while attempting to catch the brass ring and recognizing that is was progessively further and further out of reach. All in all, a sad, thoughtful and even inspiring movie depending on one's perspective.

Very informative about Alzheimer's and the progression of the disease. The effects on the family and the person with it might help other people better understand how horrible the disease is.
