There are less expensive offerings, but you'd have to consider whether you are trading quality (e.g., off-gassing) and durability (e.g., does the material lose its memory prematurely?) for price.

I have been searching for years for an exercise mat that was thick, long, and didn't skid on a hardwood floor. This mat is perfect! It is over an inch thick (7/8ths to be exact) and is dense yet soft. I can now jump, run, kneel, or plank without feeling the floor. It is 2 ft wide and almost 6 ft long (70 1/2 inches) so I have plenty of room for all my exercises without having to move or adjust my mat. Great quality, too!

This mat is hands down the best mat I have ever seen for Pilates! It is supportive, but also very cushioned. I will use it for yoga as well. My knees and elbows are going to LOVE this!!

This mat was worth every penny! It is 1/2 inch thick dense foam that cushions just the right amount yet supports at the same time. No more knee pain as I kneel or elbow pain while doing planks! It has a smooth side and a ridged side and both sides keep my mat from slipping on my hardwood floor. The quality of this mat surpasses any I have seen. It really is the perfect exercise mat.

I drove to several stores looking for an exercise mat over 6-ft long. I have rheumatoid arthritis. The mat to protects my joints from the hardwood floors at home. I use the mat to do my physical therapy exercises (homework). I needed a mat that was extra-thick and firm to cushion my joints. I am 6'-2" tall (215-lbs). I need an extra length mat to keep all of me on the mat. This mat provides the most cushion of anything I was able to find at the stores - and, I did a very thorough search. I've had it now for about two weeks. It is working out very well for me. To keep the mat clean, and add a bit more comfort to my routine, I purchased an extra-long yoga towel that works well over the top of the mat.
