1st impression out of the box: appears to be very well made. 30 minutes in the garden: this things a beast. runs like a champ. It actually broke some large rocks. Much more user friendly than my large gas tiller. Well worth the reasonable price.
Love it!

This Cultivator/Tiller is a POWER HOUSE!

What a little power house and work horse! As a female, it felt like it was going to rip my arms off, which once I figured out how to handle it, it worked out okay. I would like information in the owner's manual about replacement part numbers, so I know exactly which parts to order. The first use, yesterday, bent a blade on a big rock that was buried under ground. I couldn't see it. I just moved from the south where soil is sandy to the north where it's red clay and rocky. I wasn't sure this little gem could handle the load. It certainly did and now that I know I can adjust the wheels it should do even better! For the problems I had- I would say, making the handle grips/handle bars adjustable so short people can use it as well, would be nice. Also, the handle grips are way too bulky, thick, large to hold on to for smaller hands and the trigger switch is too far forward making it difficult to hold onto, if you have smaller hands as well, especially while the tiller bouncing, vibrating and in movement causing me to accidentally release the trigger switch repeatedly which is annoying. Also, I ended up being in a LOT of pain from how difficult it is to hold on to these large, bulky handle grips while trying to till each row, causing me to have to take several breaks and that reduces productivity. I have deducted a star for all of these reasons. I've just broken ground on my 30x15 garden bed and plan to do more! Overall, I recommend it. Even with the pain it causes from the awkward handle grips, I still love it. Including photos! Note: The soil appears black however, it is red clay as you can see in my neighbors garden in one of the photos. The reason mine appears darker is because the previous owners had several horses here which enriched/amended the soil and made it much more fertile than my neighbor, but trust that it is in fact red clay. (Nevermind- Sun Joe will not allow me to add photos.)

I've been using mine for 5 years now. I chose this one because of the 13 amp motor. The more amperage a motor is drawing the more powerful it is. This will dig as hard and deeps as you are strong enough to hang onto it! One heck of a workhorse. You'll need to use a 12 gauge extension cord because of the amperage draw. The 2 prong plug on the machine is polarized so there is no concern about the 3rd ground wire. I would like to see an edging attachment for this!

I wasn't sure if this little electric tiller could till my garden because I have (had) some old creeping shrub roots that come in from the woods, and my garden had never been tilled before. I began years ago with a lasagna style garden and made the mistake of putting old straw on top. For years I have been dealing with huge clusters of deeply rooted mats of oat grass. I also let the garden lay fallow for a year and was having massive problems with weeds last summer. I hurt my shoulder and couldn't pull weeds. I tried burning them, but a couple weeks later they were back up. By the time I did my research and got my Sun Joe 13.5 amp. 16" wide electric tiller, those weeds were 2 feet tall. I highly recommend trimming down the weeds or grass first to help prevent the inevitable tangle that forms on the tiller blades. I was AMAZED at how tough this little tiller is, and how easy it was to operate, even with my previous shoulder injury. If you are worried about the electric cord, all you have to do is let go of the "gas" and it stops immediately. As soon as you press the trigger it is running strong again. Now I think about all that green goodness being tilled into the soil making it rich with nitrogen and other mineral's. I am actually looking forward to tilling again where needed.

Was visiting the BIN Plus store in Galveston when I saw this tiller/cultivator and got it for a great price. Had a large tree removed and stump ground - the soil here is basically clay with a small mix of sand add saw dust and tree particles and you have a need for something that can do a lot of work with ease and this product does.

I bought this tiller for a couple of projects. project one is to help get my patio in place it has more than enough power to accomplish task and digs great one thing and this is not a complaint more of a piece of advice being so light it you hit a root or rock at will jump with you now my only complaint the tines cannot be separated so tilling over growing plants or making smaller rows will be difficult.

This is a very good tiller. Much easier to control than gas powered ones I have used. Tills very well, going deeper than I would have expected. Quite impressed. Wish there were side plates available so it would till along lawn without throwing dirt out the sides.

I was skeptical about buying an electric tiller, but most of the reviews were very good and the price was right so I said what the heck. It worked better than I expected. It dug in deep, and was easy to handle.

Worked well the 1st day - Switch broke 2nd time used. There seems to be a consistent switch problem across the line. Next door neighbor had the same problem. Customer service recommended return for replacement instead of supplying a replacement switch.

The tiller/cultivator is exactly that. Boy does this little guy chew up the ground. Used to prep yard for new sod and was so easy to use and fast to do its job only took 4 hours to cultivate over 4,000 sq. ft. Made leveling the soil an easy rake and provided a well-aerated soil for healthy base for the sod. One of the best buys I've ever made.

This 13.5 AMP unit is a really strong workhorse. Keep in mind that the TJ604E is a 13.5 AMP unit. It won't work well with a medium duty extension cord that is rated at 10 AMPS max. It won't get the power it needs from a 10 AMP rated cord and could wear out the motor or cause the 100 AMP cord to over heat and catch fire We bought a 100 foot 15 AMP rated extension cord and the cord supplies all the power this unit needs. My 5'6" wife loves using it. I do suggest buying a pair of good ear mufflers to protect from the sound. The unit digs deep, about eight inches, both going forward and backwards. We have used it only on previously planted gardens. We haven't used it to tear up grass. I think it would tear up grass but obviously and simply take a while longer than existing gardens. Just put it together as the instructions say and it'll work fine.
You'll be glad you chose this tiller.

This TJ604E is a real work horse. My petite gardener wife used it to till our flower and vegetable gardens that we previously turned over annually with shovels. She loved this tiller. It digs down quite deep if you use that setting. We have not used to dig up grass, so I can't speak to that. Keep in mind that it draws 13.5 amps. You will burn up the engine if you use a standard extension cord rated for 10 amps max. I had read some reviews on similar tillers and people complained of the engine burning up. I believe they used a standard garden 10 amp max extension cord. When that happens, the tillers engine cannot the juice it needs to run properly and the engine burns up or your cord could catch fire. I bought a 100 foot cord rated for 15 amps. Not cheap but worth it. The tiller works fine with the proper power cord. I highly recommend this product. It works just as good as the commercial tillers I had years past rented from local stores. PS. She did use it to till and destroy some ivy and found out two months later that we had just spread the ivy around the garden.

Had some rather difficult tilling - not only to pulverize but to dislodge some older top soil. Upon receipt of the Sun Joe, I had it working within an hour. It exceeded all my expectations. And did so with all the power I needed. Did the job without so much as a burp. An outstanding product. Great job, you guys.

The power is great The tilling result is great But the handles are not durable, just not appropriate for the tiller itself. Need mettle handle component to suit the heavy duty work that the machine does.

Had a yard project, needed to take up all the grass, weeds and loosen soil up for new yard. Sun Joe caught my attention as I did not want a gas powered tiller and also we had another Sun Joe product that was reliable over the years. This tiller kicked, effortlessly churned up grass and loosen the soil to a depth of nearly 6". Nothing slowed it down. I had reservations at first, but never again. Great product line
