I found the book to possess both good and bad qualities. While the book was entertaining, it became clear the author drew too much inspiration from Fight Club — it felt like a new take on the novel and didn’t feel new or fresh. Additionally, it is apparent the author does not spend much time talking to women. The female protagonist in the novel, Mia, the cool girl felt incredibly unrealistic & it made me feel sad as I pondered about the cool girl trope and the way male writers always create female characters whose sole purpose is to validate the existence of the male character. Mia’s don’t exist — they only exist in novels or movies. I’m disappointed. I would have appreciated a more challenging female character with depth. All criticisms aside, the novel had good elements. Frank was definitely an interesting character. He reminded me of Frank from Shameless. The protagonist was quite interesting as well, although incredibly self absorbed — the tortured artist trope was quite entertaining & the portrayal of schizophrenia in the novel was engaging, although I’m not necessarily sure how accurate it is.

If Fight Club and Donny Darko had a knock off baby, it would be this book. The most unoriginal thing I have read.
Best book I have read in awhile

One of the best books I have read in awhile. Bobby Hall produced great work for his first novel. Huge plot twist, that made me read until 3:00am. Highly recommend.

Please Target shopper, take heed of what I’m about to say. In the acknowledgements of this book, the second sentence reads: “After a week of binge-reading novels for the first time in my life in my mid twenties, I sat up and said, ‘I’m gonna write a book.’” This explained every question I had while reading this truly unreadable book. Logic maybe read three books and thought he should write one himself, and he did, but very very badly. So many minutes I can’t get back smh.
Don't.

Juvenile derivative drivel. Imagine a middle-schooler rewriting Fight Club for a project that only includes similes.

Bobby Hall (AKA Logic) is just a brilliant man overall, and it's great to see that he is really putting his cleverness to not only his music, but now to writing books as well.
Great Story

It really puts you in the mind of Bobby Hall (Logic). I got the book for my son, but it was so good both my husband and I read it from cover to cover. I highly recommend reading.

Beautiful debut album from the interesting mind of Bobby Hall, or Logic. Keeps you engaged throughout the entire novel with topics ranging from dark humor to mental health, definitely one of the greatest books I've read in awhile!
