About the Author
Hugo D. Cook is an Egyptologist and a classicist who studied at Oxford University and Cambridge University and knows six ancient languages to an advanced level. Hugo has an educational TikTok channel that teaches up to 4 million viewers per video about the history, culture, and writings of ancient Egypt. He currently works as a lecturer at the British Museum in London where he teaches the Egyptology and Hieroglyphs course.
Sona Avedikian is a Michigan-based illustrator. She received her BFA in illustration from College for Creative Studies in Detroit with a focus on children's illustration. Her favorite things to draw revolve around magic, mystery, and adventure, she especially loves experimenting with light and mood. Fantastic! Has lots of scientific milestones of the ancient Egyptians, well written myths, and the Egyptian creation beliefs. The stories still have the brutal actions of betrayal but are written in a toned down way that is appropriate for younger kids, and a good way to start talking about moral choices if that’s something you want. The demons of myth are not written to horrify but to look at what was scary to ancient people and think about why it was so important to their stories. The stories build on the previous but can be read out of order. A great insight into the magic and peril of ancient Egyptian stories.
