My Mama suddenly came back to life, shaking her finger in my face and reminding me of all that is Southern: the sayings I grew up with, the manners with which I was taught, the very important casseroles, the church covered-dish fellowships, and the pageantry. Everything that I miss dreadfully, but will always be imprinted as part of my DNA. No, you do not have to be from the same dirt to appreciate this gem, but it sure doesn't hurt.
