Q: Is the timer backlit, so I can use in darkness? Doe it turn off -- i.e., so the battery isn't always running?

Very faint, luckily a high pitch tone or I would've returned it. LOVE the large numbers and the EASY of setting it etc., plus magnet or a kick out stand. In a kitchen with cooking and living noise i wouldn't even hear it, i'm using it at my office for reminders.

Timer is so quiet it is hard to hear if anything is going on (I have normal hearing). Product description states, "Timer mounts with a clip, magnet, or stand..." There is NO clip, which is why I bought it. There is a stand, and I give it points for strong magnets. However, the second time I used it, the front face simply fell off for no reason I could see. Not enough super glue I guess. Returning this. Disappointed in Taylor this time.

It's easy to use; it works well... but the alarm/beep is so low for the environment I use it in, it's practically worthless (since it's so difficult to hear). Only get this timer if you work in a library-quiet kitchen and you are planning to sit right next to it when it goes off.

It’s an excellent timer, works as it’s supposed to, not too loud nor annoying. It’s not compatible to a 190° sauna. The screen just goes haywire and it’s completely illegible. In room temperature, works as is, but in a humid environment it’s toast but temporarily.

Bought this at Target to,use for stretching times. It is not good for exercise. Worst feature is the inability to turn it off after my stretching. Lack of on off capability should be posted on the lsbel. Not ecologically effective because the battery is always on. Do not have receipt so can't return,

Mine, like many others is VERY quiet. Other reviewers got a loud one. If I'm in another (or loud room) I'm not going to hear it. I laughed with a friend that it would be great for a new mom who needs a timer but does NOT want to wake a sleeping baby.

The alarm on this kitchen timer is barely audible. I do wish Target carried kitchen timers and oven thermometer by other brands besides Taylor. I find Taylor products to be of very poor quality.
