Helpful hints-The meat probe is a thin wire coated in Silicone. Be very careful not to crimp this wire in the oven- door , BBQ top ,or Smoker door. The probe , like all in the industry , should be kept away from flame flare-ups and contact with cooking surfaces. Another tip- be sure to insert the probe into the meat at least 1.5 inches. This insures that you will get the correct readings at all times.

Q: Can you check grease temperature in a deep fryer
A: The connection point between the cord and the probe isn't water resistant so when submerged in liquid it will get into the sensors and create an HHH warning. Would not recommend it for this purpose.

Q: The 392' F maximum temperarure seems like an odd number. I often cook my chicken in a 400' oven. Will these few degrees above the recommended temperature really be a problem?
A: The thermometer is used to take the temperature of the food, not the oven. The cord is safe up to 485 degrees F, ensuring that it is not exposed to a direct flame, flare-ups, or contact with cooking surfaces. Be sure to insert the probe at least 1.5 inches to get the correct temperature inside the food. Enjoy your chicken!

Q: Can the probe remain in the meat for the entire cooking time? And if so, can the wire withstand the heat of the oven for that duration?
A: The probe can remain in the meat for the entire cooking time. The thermometer sits on the counter while the cord winds through the oven door and the temperature can be read without opening the oven door. The thermometer displays temperature in Fahrenheit (32 degrees F to 392 degrees F) and Celsius (0 degrees C to 200 degrees C). Please make sure you do not use the cord and probe for oven temperatures higher than 392F & be sure the probe and cable does not get crimped. Please reach out if you have additional questions.
