Q: What is the thickness of it? Is it slip resistant? I'm looking at it for my MIL who is 84 y/o and unsteady on her feet.
A: Hi Amanda. Thanks for your question. While this mat does have rubber pads to reduce slipping, the majority of the underside is wood and when in contact with another hard surface there is always a possibility of slippage. To be on the safe side, I'd suggest finding another mat that has a complete non-slip backing on the underside. I hope that helps!

Q: Is this "woven" by using glue, or are their "hole's" one can weave say wire to hold it together? In the tropics, "rubber" backed mats melt and get sticky over time.
A: These mats are assembled by threading water & UV resistant line through holes that have been drilled in to each piece. If you wanted to you could weave them together with wire, but it would take a while!!

Q: Can this be used in the shower?
A: These mats can be used in the shower as teak has natural water resistant properties, but I'd suggest standing the mat on its edge after use to stop water from staying in the "weave" holes. Thanks.

Q: Can this be cut to fit into a triangular space?
A: Great question! The mats are woven together, so it you cut it, the weaving will unravel and the pieces come apart. However, if you're handy, you could re-string it. Are you looking to put this into something like a v-berth on a boat? It would look amazing!

Q: Do these need to be treated for better water resistance? It won't be in the shower, but used as a bathmat
A: Hi - this is Shelley from Hip-o Modern Living. Teak is used in ship building, so go ahead an get it wet, that's what these mats are designed for.
