A: This is the newer redesigned model. The model was updated in 2022 and is the only model that TearRestore currently offers.

Q: How do you know when it's time to replace the heat packs? (Because, no, I'm not going to count the days).

A: heat should last about 10 minutes. once heat/time begins to be adversely affected, it is likely time to replace the heat packs. make sure to massage the pack in order to evenly distribute the heat.

In the past, I've been bothered multiple times with a chalazion on my eyelid. A chalazion is due to a blocked oil gland on my eyelid. My Opthamologist recommended using the TearRestore Thermal Pack which I've been using daily for the last 6 months and have had no reoccurrence of a chazion. In addition, my eyes do not feel as tired. I would highly recommend using them.

Such an innovative product for those suffering from chronic dry eye. I loooove how you can use the product and still see.. all of the previous warming eye masks for dry eye that I have used you have had to lay down and close your eyes… Which was limiting for me. I highly recommend this product.

Too many steps. Difficult to assemble each time. Had to hold the mask in place as it kept slipping down. I gave it a 3 because once on my eyes it was quite soothing, but the hassle makes it NOT worth the money.

My heat pack stays warm on my face for a good 1-5 mins max. Not the 10 mins advertised / needed for the therapuetic benefit. Misleading - but open to trying another heat pack to see if mine is just a bit defective.

The pack has to be boiled between each use,, and the little snap that activates the heat doesn’t always work on the first try. The vinyl surface of the hot pack was uncomfortable on the skin, and the “eyes” on the mask didn’t really line up with my tear ducts I Prefer the easy microwave style with soft fabric that i bought elsewhere.
So close, but not quite what I was hoping for.

I like the idea of being able to treat my eyes while being active. Most eye patches requires me to hold them pressed against my eye and to lie back. What I don’t like is that the eye patch doesn’t get as warm as other eye patches I can get at a pharmacy for a third of the price. The convenience of this product does not outweigh its effectiveness. I wanna keep it and like it, but if I can return it, I will.

I purchased this for its supposed ease of use. I thought I'd be more likely to use it regularly because it was simply a bend of the metal disc to activate. However, the pack must be boiled for 5-10 minutes to restore to a liquid gel and then cooled between every use. It would be easier to heat a washcloth or microwave the other kind of mask. I suppose this one will stay more sanitary because of the boiling in between uses. While convenient to be able to have my eyes open while wearing it, I'm not sure how effective it is because it does not make full contact with the eyelids and all the tear ducts. It also gets quite hot! The skin around my eyes and on upper cheeks was very red after use. Also, it's supposed to be non-toxic. I have MCS so am extremely sensitive to chemicals. All components (the gel pack, the rigid plastic frame/holder, and the strap-headband combo) smelled of chemicals to me! I washed them all before use but they still smelled chemically. They probably need to be soaked for some time to get the chemicals off. The only reason to buy this is if you really want to have your eyes open while treating them.

I used every type of eye mask you could think of - including the USB charged versions and TearRestore's thermal mask is by far the best. Mainly because I end up using it much more (which is half the battle) as I can still see and work while using the mask.

In early 2021, I was diagnosed with meibomian gland disorder (MGD). Due to work and school, I've spent at least 15 hours per day on the computer for the past two years. My eyes are always dry and puffy. I was using a moisture eye mask, and while I enjoy taking a break to do the mask treatments, it took a significant amount of time away from my already hectic schedule. It would also be inconvenient to do it at work because I would have to find a microwave nearby because the eye mask would cool before I could even apply it to my eyes. I can work or do other things while wearing the TearRestore mask.
