Dangerouse for smaller fish!!

I have been given a small sample pack of this product in my local aquatic shop. I regret I took it! Rock hard and it doesnt disolve quick enough. Fish grabs it before it sinks to the bottom and struggles to swallow it, majority spit it out. My pink barb swallowed a piece and straight away started spinning around as like choking with it!! Never seen anything like this. I thought I am gonna loose him. Was very upsetting seeing it!!

Hi, bought this fish food for my Neon Tetras. Big granules, rock hard and instantly sinking, the Neons can't even touch them.

TetraMin-imum

These pellets are too hard, even in my fingers. They drop so fast none of my 17 Cardinals can get them. If I drop 10 granules above my school of Tetras, only 4 on average find a mouth. Every fish spits them out. The ingredient list is superb- I wanted these to work, but I'm going to continue with my go-to brand, along with my specialized and personally formulated mixture. Too bad- I can't imagine how so many reviewers seem to love these. Maybe they're not actually giving them to fish, but eating them themselves with a salad!

We certainly appreciate your feedback and are disappointed this product did not meet your standards. For help, email petsupport@spectrumbrands.com. Granules do tend to be hard and it is pretty normal for fish to pull food in and spit it out as they eat. Our team would be happy to discuss this with you directly and do our best to make it right.

Sinks Straight to the bottom

I bought this food because is specifically says, "slow sinking" as my two betta fish enjoy floating food. Unfortunately this food was much like a brick, and sunk straight to the bottom. Plus, neither betta fish seemed to enjoy the food.
1 reply from Consumer Services team - 9 years ago
Thank you for posting your review. This food is not intended to float like a flake food. It does begin sinking as soon as you place it in the water, and will drift slowly downward. It is intended for mid-level fish such as neon tetras or white cloud minnows, not surface feeders such as bettas. We would recommend TetraPro Betta Crisps, TetraBetta Floating Mini Pellets or BettaMin Tropical Medley in your case.

Good fish food for bottom feeders

4 out of 5 stars
AN89 - 9 years ago

My angel fish love it, my silver dollars love chasing it. All my bottom feeders eat it up however, about 50% of the food I put in floats, making It hard to feed all my fish with just this food so I had to get pellets for my larger catfish. Good fish food overall.
