About the Author

Lois has been drawing since the day she could hold a pencil, and started teaching herself to draw digitally in 2003. Although she was born in Holland and has Dutch nationality, she has lived all over the world, including the United States, Indonesia, France and Belgium. Upon finishing high school in 2004, she studied animation in Ghent (Belgium) for a year and then moved back to her home country to study animation at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) in Hilversum. She is currently a freelance illustrator and animator located in Utrecht (the Netherlands).

I've been folloing this artist since I was in junior high. So this was a must buy for me. Her work is amazing and this art book is a great introduction into her work and background. The book quite literally illustrates her educational background in the art field as well as her thought process put into her pieces. The works themselves are stunning in printed format. The pages' colors remain true to the original digital works. The last quarter of the book is dedicated to providing tutorials for two of her pieces and general tips for digital drawing. The tutorials are each detailed texts with process photos explaining her techniques and tool preferences. Overall, this book provides a fresh perspective for beginner and veteran digital artists alike.
