Great Bible recap. I recommend.

I bought this for both my parents for Christmas after doing the Bible Recap through the podcast. It's a summarized version of what Tara Leigh goes over on the podcast but it still hits enough information for your daily reading to make sense. Be careful though it is a heavy book so it's not exactly an easy to carry around with you book. I recommend this as a must read.

Not Catholic, It doesn’t say if it was and that’s why I bought, has great comments but the missing books is a big down side for me.

Her podcast is so good but to have this in book format is such a blessing!

I love the TBR reading plan, and liked the podcast, but I needed see what was being said and have the ability to highlight and take notes!!

“Following a chronological Bible reading plan, these recaps explain and connect the story of Scripture, section by section,” states the back jacket in Tara-Leigh Cobble’s book, The Bible Recap: A One-Year Guide to Reading and Understanding the Entire Bible. ~ What ~ This seven-hundred-and-fifty-two-page hardbound targets those who want a short daily explanation that can be read in conjunction with the Bible every day of the year. Using mainly the English Standard Version of The Holy Bible, the LEB, NASB, and NLT versions are also referenced. While the beginning has a letter from the author with instructions on how to use the book, the ending has acknowledgments and the writer’s biography. Arranged in chronological order to the Word of God, this daily devotional summarizes what is read in the Bible each day and a short reminder of how God’s attributes were displayed during that section. Each day’s reading covers two pages, with the required reading listed, several paragraphs recaputuring the topic, and a “Today’s God Shot” paragraph that is a current-day application. ~ Why ~ I have been reading through The Bible yearly for decades and most often read it in chronological order as it is my favorite format. I like that this devotional is set up to my personal liking and seems to only concentrate on summarizing the reading, not adding to its contents. I like that the day’s reading is short and to the point so does not supersede reading God’s Word. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not understand how His Word is so important and should be read daily. Others may not like the Bible versions used or that the devotions are written by a young woman. Some who are more scholarly may not glean any new information in it, but the devotional is a good reminder of the Lord and what He has done throughout history. With the book covering the entire Bible over a full year, it is somewhat rudimentary in content. ~ Wish ~ I wish an added one or two-sentence prayer was included. I prefer the recaps were not so simplified; for example, in my today’s reading of Numbers 1 and 2, the devotion did not mention any of the vast numbers of Israelites or that their campground covered approximately twelve square miles, which was noted in my King James Life Application Study Bible. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a beginner’s devotional that summarizes The Bible if read chronologically over a year, this is a good source if you do not mind it being simple and written by a young woman. Excellent resource for studying the Bible. TLC’s commentary and additional resources make it easy to study and understand God’s love every day. The daily “God shots” are insightful!

The Bible Recap kept me motivated to read through the entire Bible. I gained so much knowledge from Tara Leigh's commentary. Most importantly, I learned more about who God is and that he's where the joy is!

The best book to help people understand the Bible. It puts everything together in such a clear, understandable way.
