A: Great question, placing your foundation directly on the floor may not allow for sufficient airflow. When airflow is restricted this can sometimes lead to mold and mildew growth which risks damaging the integrity of the foundation. That being said, placing your foundation directly on the floor will void your warranty.

A: We do not suggest adding legs to your foundation. The foundation works much like a box spring and should be placed on a frame.

A: A foundation ensures that mattresses sleep like they should. Some older box springs or foundations don’t provide a solid surface, causing mattresses to sag from the breaks in support. A strong and level foundation helps mattresses to perform at their peak for a decade or more, no matter what kind of bed frame they sit on. Casper foundations and mattresses (including our hybrids) are the perfect pair. We spent over a year developing the Casper foundation, so its design has the same considerations as our mattresses. A: We recommend purchasing the King Foundation! It should position itself perfectly on the bed frame and the sturdy construction of the King Foundation is the ideal setup for any Casper mattress.

A: Hello, Tina! That is absolutely not a dumb question considering that traditional boxsprings are such a pain to fit in tight spaces! Our foundation comes disassembled and packaged in a box that will fit through doorways and up tight staircases. Putting it together requires no tools, either. Plus, if you ever need to move it, you can easily disassemble it again. For reference, here are the foundation box dimensions and weights for each size: Twin: 70.5” x 17” x 10”, 57 lbs Twin XL: 75.5” x 17 “x 10”, 58 lbs Full: 70.5” x 17” x 10", 63 lbs Queen: 75.5” x 17" x 10”, 68 lbs King: 77” x 17” x 10”, 81 lbs Cal King: 79.5” x 17” x 10”, 80 lbs

This base was SO easy to put together. All materials seemed good quality, instructions were simple, I think I had it unboxed and put together in 15 minutes. Minimal parts, I appreciate the interlocking pieces keeping it simple, yet feeling sturdy.

We bought an original mattress in king size a few years ago. We assumed our box springs were fine. We had what is pretty standard, two smaller box springs on the bed frame since a king box spring wouldn’t fit in the door. This is not a good choice for a foam mattress. The center, where the two box springs met was a high point and we could feel that high point through the original’s foam. It was subtle but noticeable, especially in the middle of the night after we had been on the foam for a while. I ordered the foundation to solve this problem and it did. It was easy to assemble and since it comes in parts, it is easy to carry. It made our original a little more firm, which we did not mind. So if you have the situation with the two box springs, then spend the extra money for the foundation as well. I wish I did it earlier.

The mattress itself is pretty dense and heavy so it’s reassuring to know that it is being supported well from underneath. All the sides have a nice fabric cover to them and the wooden slats are neatly woven into a fabric casing. Great touches. Thanks Casper!
