Q: Are these compostable?
submitted by kchacha - 9 months ago
A: Absolutely not. There are plastic ingredients listed.
submitted bygriffenhc - 5 months ago
Q: I'm curious how this is eco-friendly and "loved by nature" when it's not fully plant-based? The other materials, which are plastics, means it's not compostable, so it will end up in a landfill.
submitted by Greeny - 2 years ago
A: By limiting the plastic content in each toothbrush we reduce the plastic waste in our landfills and oceans, we always strive to do better and we are in the process of developing a new formulation.

Green washing….they say “plant-based”, different from your plastic toothbrush….it is made of polypropylene, which is literally a type of plastic.

Everytime I used one of these toothbrushes my gums would hurt and itch for hours afterwards. I've always been pretty thorough with my brushing and thought maybe I just had some inflammation from something else but as soon as I switched to a spare bamboo toothbrush I found in one of my bins my gums stopped hurting and itching. Someone else stated the bristles are pointed so I'm not sure if that's the problem or what but it was not a good experience.

My sensory kiddo loves these! They are so comfortable to use and still effective, even though they are pleasantly soft. Thank you so much for carrying them!

I like that these are plant based and cruelty free. On the expensive side for sure but worth it if you take in the sustainability aspect I think. The bristles are soft and I like that they come in different colors.

Finally found a toothbrush with SOFT bristles. If you’ve struggled for years looking for a toothbrush that was actually soft, buy this. You won’t look back.

These are awesome! Not too soft and not too stiff. Larger head than typical. Love the shape of the head, too!

using corn and polypropylene at the same time in the handle makes these brushes neither compostable nor recycleable, so it ultimately just creates more trash that will still last a long time. go for brushes where the handles can be composted (entirely made from corn, wheat, bamboo), can be recycled, or where you keep most of the brush permanently (like keep from colgate, for instance) and just replace the heads. most of the time the brush heads will have to be trashed no matter which kind you buy, so don't worry so much about those. these are just deceptive, making you feel like you're being more eco-friendly than you are.

Nice sustainable alternative, but...

The toothbrushes are a nice alternative to reduce plastic in my life, but it comes at a price. Contrary to the listing on the web page, the toothbrushes are not made in USA. The package indicates manufacture in PRC (People's Republic of China) which increases the carbon footprint due to transportation.

In an effort to cut back on plastic products, I've been trying a bunch of different brands of eco-friendly toothbrushes over the past year. This is my favorite! I like the soft bristles and comfortable, lightweight handle that doesn't get all worn down like the bamboo handle toothbrushes do.
Bad bristle lifetime

I really like that these toothbrushes are good for the environment. Seeing all of those ads for “Save the turtle” from your bad toothbrushes spark desire to do better in a lot of us. The colors are ideal and the soft/firm texture is nice on the whole mouth. That’s where the good parts stand. Mainly the environmental factor. On to the dislike… I have had multiple issues with the bristles falling out while brushing. At first I thought “eh” but it kept on happening. I know that it could be worse however I do not want to inadvertently swallow a bristle, and, I don’t see the point in paying the top dollar for bristles that need more fine tuning.

We have recently started transforming our home into a “clean” one and have put effort into discontinuing the use of plastics where possible. These toothbrushes and their concept are awesome, bristles are a great texture. One complaint - bristles came out in my mouth the first few uses however this was only with the first brush used. I haven’t experienced that problem again as we are going through the pack. I will be purchasing these again.

Nice handle and packaging, painful bristles

I like that these toothbrushes come in a cardboard box, individually wrapped in paper. The handle is a nice shape that is easy to hold, and I like the colors of the bristles. However, the bristles were awful for me. When I first used the brush, there were little broken bristles that I had to pull out before use, and one more came out in my mouth. The bristles were very soft, but appear to be tapered instead of blunt, which apparently doesn't work for my gums. The bristles felt sharp and scratchy. After one use, my gums were so sore that I went back to my previous, not-eco-friendly brush. These may still work for you if you have more resilient gums.
